I had an interview today which I completely bombed. I have always done extremely well in interviews. My last two interviews i've forgotten words (How can I not remember cabinet??), seems I go into random blurbs that don't make sense which makes me terribly nervous in the interview. Sometimes i'll be in a basic conversation and unable to think of what a "cow" is, or a "cabinet". I'm only 25 and worried something is not right. Anyone ever hear of this at 25? Any suggestions on anything I can do in terms of vitamins...memory techniques...or any other medications? Also, I don't smok, no drugs, and will only socially drink. I really need some help. Thanks in advance.

Definetly see your doctor for underlying causes. As suggested ginkgo biloba is excellent for memory and concentration. I take 160mg time released capsule and have noticed a big difference. I have Adult Attention Deficit Dosorder and do not take meds for it but I do supplement with things that work - omega 3 oil, ginkgo biloba, magnesium, vit C and E. I also experience (or was) the same things you talk about so perhaps you have an attention deficit.......never know(google it to find other symptoms). See your doc and try the suggested supplements before ever considering taking mind altering, harmful, addicitve, and nasty drugs!

Take Care!
p.s. that Brain Age game from Nintendo DS is awesome for helping with memory and things. My brain age is 26......not bad for 37 huh? =)

You might try seeing a neurologist. The last thing you want is to discover 5 or 10 years down the road that you actually have early onset Alzheimer's, which could have been almost cured if you had had it treated early enough.

He will be able to suggest ways to keep your mind active, if there is no underlying medical cause. But a really great rule of thumb is "use it, or lose it". Just keep your mind working every day--read, do hard puzzles, make yourself learn one new thing every day, etc.

some forms of depression, as well as anxiety can cause mental lapses,in your case you are only forgetting them at the time they do come back to you later. for instance if you for got the word cabinets, but later remembered that you for got that particular word. Stress and anxiety can cause this very often, so you might speak to your doctor, who then might prescribe some thing to calm you down a bit, or you may have to learn to overcome such obstacles, which is well worth learning for future use. This is learned by self talk, I do not need to be afraid of this interview, these people have my best interest at heart, they are looking for some one who can do the job, and that person is me. and I can prove this by remaining calm and not anxious about it, this is a wheel you must keep turning over and over in your mind, you can do it because you believe in your own self truths

This is from being stressed. Learn some relaxation techniques.

I sometimes have this problem when I'm not stressed.... I'm going to try some ginkgo... my friend says it helps her.
