i take ativan when i am feeling overwhelmed and sense a panic attack coming on.i dont need to take it very often..maybe a couple of times a month...more at stressful times like the holidays.
i take zoloft daily which helps me stay evened out...without it...i would be a wreck.the ativan just helps when i get close to the edge.
i used to take lorazepam( xanax) but it was more harsh. i like ativan(lorazepam) better .
good luck :)

Ativan (Lorazapam) is for ant-anxiety. It will make you sleepy but keep you from going into a panic. It should only be prescribed short term (a few months) because it can become addictive. Your doctor needs to look into a better drug for long term use like Lexapro, etc. Ativan has been a lifesaver for me during the process of trying to find the right permanent solution. Don't drink alcohol or have caffeine when you're on it though.

Take it as prescribed and you'll be fine. Ativan is a good medication for depression/anxiety. My brother took it for years, and he did not become addicted to it. He no longer needs it.

You will start loosing your memory with ativan. Their are a lot of anti depressant & they are perfectly safe. I would have prescribed but you have not given your history in detail. As far as anxiety is concerned Alprazolam .25 will surve your purpose well.

I have been on it twice. Once when my father died and another for extreme stress which was causing anxiety attacks.

I had no side effects from it. I was only given a restricted number and when I started to run out I cut them in half so I could wean myself off of them slowly without a problem.

Depends on your situation, personality and the nature of the attack. If it were for work then it's company policy, if it was personal and wrong then swing away. The only advice I can give is don't make it personal in response, if someone attacks you your defending your position and the integrity of that is what counts. Then again if your position is comfortable and you couldn't be bothered, then ignore it.
