You may have codependency, especially if these feelings are coupled with depression or need for perfectionism. (This is typically characterized by "caring too much".) If you feel like this is compulsive behavior (something that you can't stop doing or feel compelled to do), then I suggest speaking to a therapist. They can help clarify your questions about healthy levels of care and responsibility for others.

Because there are two of you having a fight in your head. One is a spoiled young lady who wants someone to look after her, and to heck with others.

The other you is not at all selfish, and is caring of others.

To be happy, I think you need to allow the sweet and caring part of your personality to win.

You don't need another person to take care of you, you can take care of yourself. For example, what happens if this person who is taking care of you dies? Or finds a lady not so needy????

What will become of you then????

I think at some level you know this, and this is why you are having a hard time.

Hugs.

Wow you must be a nice person. I just look out for myself and that's bad. I'm trying to change but maybe you should start looking after yourself a little too. People aer just going to have to learn to look out for themselves when someone can't because really you shouldn't look after everyone all the time.

Start to set aside 5 minute segments of the day in which you do something to near yourself to a perosnal goal.
ex: read to become more educated; exercise to become healthier; look for another work to earn more money; look into going back to school; etc
