I have been suffering from lower back pain for a long time. Most of the doctors attribute it to a bad disk (L5-S1). Nothing has worked to relieve the pain, and not the doctors wan tme to have an epidural pain block to see if that helps. Has anyone had this done, and can you comment on the effectiveness and sde-effects

I am acute/chronic patient in pain management. Here is history: severe scoliosis which resulted in 2 major back surgeries, lumber was finally fused. I had a 45degree curve which had me leaning WWAAYY to the right, after surgery i could stand straight but this affected my hip. Just had knee surgery in Nov. 2006 and a total hip replacement 4 weeks ago. My question is: I am now on 120 Lortabs, 90 somas, 30 xanex and ambeim CR for sleep. This was not enough bc the hospital had me on 2 Norcos every 4 hrs so my tolerance was built up BIG time. SO my pain dr. ordered Fentynal 25 microgram patches. I put one on last night and slept like a baby and i'm still not in pain!!!!!!!!! They are suppose to last 72 hrs,. so should i change to the patches or stay on all the pills? I am going to always have pain from my scoliosis. I have a bulging disc on my right side now that is all swollen. I am in physical therapy 3 times a week and don't miss a day!!! My hip is great, it's my back STILL?!?!?

For years now I have been getting sharp pains from sleeping on my side, I'm assuming. The pain is in my shoulder(s) and it gets to the point of where I can't lift my arms because it hurts so bad. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I don't want to waste time and money on x-rays and such but it just won't go away. I've added a couple exercises to my workout routine that focus on my shoulders so hopefully that will help. Any other suggestions?

I have been taking Nurofen Plus (Ibuprofen & Codeine) for a toothache while I wait 4 days for a dentist appointment. These are the only pain killers that work for toothache.

I have noticed that soon after taking them I develop a mild throbbing headache on the top right hand side of my head. I also feel a little dizzy and light headed.

Should I be concerned?

I keep getting this pain on the right side of my head around my temple area.It lasts for about 5 seconds then goes away.It pulses when it happens. It doesn't feel like a normal head ache but like a pressure pain.I have had an MRI scan but nothing shows up.My mum died from an brain aneurysm 3 yrs ago and I get worried that It might be early symptoms of one. Acupuncture does not help me either.I've had this prob for 4 years now and get the pains 4-5 times a day. Does anyone else get these or know what it might be ?? please any help or light on this delema would be appreciated.

I fought chronic pain for fifteen years before taking meds. Now, I have a physicain to give musle relaxors, a psychirist to give chemical imbalance meds, and a pain doctor for the pain. Wow!!! Does it not seem like there should be one doctor to give meds? The reason for this question is that there is one contreversal med that helps and I only take when symptoms are drastic. Doesn't it seem that if I had one doctor, my meds would mix and the doctor would know what is needed. Three years ago, I found these great doctors and put the past doctors in the past. So, how can I get this med from one doctor and how do I know which one to ask?

I have a dull pain in the left side of my head. It's been hurting all day. I had a very stressful day yesterday which pretty much consisted of stress and 9 hrs driving around town. I was exhausted and was too stressed to eat much. Ive been eating today, but I'm still kinda hungry and really tired..It's kind of a shooting pain, but not really distracting. My nose is stuffed up, so it couldbe sinuses??

I have osteoarthritis in my lower back, have had a disc fusion done in my neck 8 years ago and is starting to wear out, and have now been diagnosed with Impingement syndrome in my right shoulder. Unfortunately I have become dependent on pain killers to the point of being dangerous.
I am looking for alternatives to manage the pain. I live alone so no support from family is available.
