Each person is different. For me some foods cause migraines right away with in 15 minutes and some foods cause migraines with in 1-5 hrs. The best way to keep track is a notebook. In this order:

"Food, Time eat, Time get migraine,"
Or you can leave it blank if you get a migraine. You can make them into colums in a word documents.

Chocolate, and cheese for most people are a big food trigger. I know for me they are and for other's as well. And so are Peanuts.

I think it is probably different with everybody. If I eat a trigger food early in the day, and remain active I don't usually get the migraines. But if I eat them in the evening(even for supper) and go to bed a few hours later I will wake with one. However if I drink alcohol of any type within a half hour I am ready to go to the emergency room. Good luck those headaches are truly painful.

Depends on how much of your trigger food you consumed (why would you) and what time of day, evening is the worst, because as you sleep all those things you had can just go, go, go, I could get a migraine just minutes after walking through a perfume store when they all sprayed you, but they cant do that here now, only give you a sample on paper, but I still go in the other door.

#1 drink about 1/2 gallon of water per day - the head of neurorology at UCDavis (about 10 years ago) likened a car low on oil to a body low on water (engine siezing up).
#2 Daily muscle relaxer (1 or 2 swigs of molasses or 1 or 2 bananas) they contain magnesium and potassium.
#3 Massage therapy - professional or read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies (it teaches you how). The principle that causes the headaches regardless of how severe is that muscles get knots (trigger points), which make the muscles stay tight, which press on nerves.
Your back, shoulders, neck and everywhere on your head will definitely play into the cause and it will take a while to get all the trigger points to go away.

I have treated 15 to 20 year cases.
There is no medicine for this problem, because science doesn't know the cause behind it like many such diseases. Alternate systems of medicine know it therefore they treat it. But they can't measure the quantum of vitality or the blockage time. Therefore we can treat but cant give numerical formulae.
