I fought chronic pain for fifteen years before taking meds. Now, I have a physicain to give musle relaxors, a psychirist to give chemical imbalance meds, and a pain doctor for the pain. Wow!!! Does it not seem like there should be one doctor to give meds? The reason for this question is that there is one contreversal med that helps and I only take when symptoms are drastic. Doesn't it seem that if I had one doctor, my meds would mix and the doctor would know what is needed. Three years ago, I found these great doctors and put the past doctors in the past. So, how can I get this med from one doctor and how do I know which one to ask?

multiple docotrs are needed because medical doctors as a rule do not treat psychiatric disorders. This is why it is important for you to disclose all medications to are taking to your doctors and to communicate well with them. Ask the doctor that is qualified to dispense the drug. (if it is for a medical condition ask the MD. ..etc..) Your pharmacist can also answer questions on who can best help you obtain a drug if medically needed.

I'm also a chronic pain patient... the best way I've found to deal with the multiple doctors (I have lupus) is to make sure my doctors know what all the other doctor is doing. Give copies of all labs, prescriptions, etc. Also, mention that you want them to keep in touch so you get the best medical treatment you can.

A pharmacist is your best bet to ask when you have questions about medications, they too can go over your meds to make sure you aren't taking some together that you shouldn't be. I had so many Drs giving me water pills for my high blood pressure and I was allergic to them all, it was an online friend who is a pharmacist who checked into it for me and discovered that since I am allergic to sulfa drugs, which every Dr. knew, that there were sulfa dirivities in the water pills they were giving me. They can also tell you which one of your Drs would be best qualified for prescribing you the pills you want to use.

Do you have a General (primary)MD?Maybe he can talk to these other dr's and between all of them he can manage yrou meds. It's dangerous to have many dr's giving many meds because of interactions and stuff.Have you tried accupunture? Best of luck!!
