For years now I have been getting sharp pains from sleeping on my side, I'm assuming. The pain is in my shoulder(s) and it gets to the point of where I can't lift my arms because it hurts so bad. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I don't want to waste time and money on x-rays and such but it just won't go away. I've added a couple exercises to my workout routine that focus on my shoulders so hopefully that will help. Any other suggestions?

Lucy Lu Lu I feel for you you.

I can't think of a time I've ever remembered someone cmplaining of sharp pains in their shoulders.

You may have pulled something. I don't know and I'm in the medical field.

I would make an appointment ot see a Doctor. Doesn't sound normal and the exercises you've included might be irritating your shoulders and making them hurt worse!

GL!

#1 drink about 1/2 gallon of water per day - the head of neurorology at UCDavis (about 10 years ago) likened a car low on oil to a body low on water (engine siezing up).
#2 Daily muscle relaxer (1 or 2 swigs of molasses or 1 or 2 bananas) they contain magnesium and potassium.
#3 Massage therapy - professional or read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies (it teaches you how). The muscles get knots (trigger points), which make the muscles stay tight, which press on nerves.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

Oh ya, it's called compression, and it's from sleeping too long on one side. Not much you can do about it except to try and sleep on your back. A different type bed may also help but unless your beds old and needs replacing , a different sleeping position is more apt to help.

Maybe you need a new matress or pillow. My worst days are when I wake up from using a different pillow.
