General Health Care - November 2006

A friend of mine has had lower back problems for years (he is in his sixties). It has slipped out a few times. He has had back surgery, but it didn't really help much. Is there anyway to help his pain go down?

Just last night, I accidentally stabbed myself with a small kitchen knife with a bit of force to the palm of my hand, to the fleshy part near my thumb. The wound is less than a cm wide and it didn't bleed very much but it burned. I am having problems moving my thumb now and there is pain about a half an inch from the wound at the very bottom part of my thumb. Its not red or swollen. Is it possible that I damaged a tendon or muscle and do I need a tetanis shot? I was using the knife previously to core apples. When I stabbed myself, it was because I was trying to cut the hard plastic ties off the package of an apple peeler. Serious answers only please!

I am very scared of needles, and anything medical.
Will they use a big needle?
Will it hurt?
What does "going to sleep" feel like?

Also TERRIFFIED that i will wake up, during the procedure. !!!
I really need answers on this please.

i know i'm not pregnant, so don't go there. for the past week or so, i have been feeling like i had water in my ears. they hurt alittle and yesterday, i couldn't stand up or bend down or anything because i would get really dizzy. now my ear just hurts and every once in a while i'll get dizzy. what could be the problem??

I don't know what I did but last night after I went figure skating I was sitting down and all of a sudden I wanted to get up and my right leg had an intense pain goin through it. i suffer from asthma, i smoke and i'm a vegan; if this info is helpful. i always have headaches, and never know if it's cuz i don't drink enough; i ocassionly get dizzy, especially when i get up from sitting position, and when i smoke. but 2day it really worried me...

Whenever the weather gets a little bit chilli I freeze and can't get my temperature up for a good two hours. As I'm typing now my right hand is like ice, my lefts not so bad.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it. Or has anyone exprienced similar and whats the best way to combat it?

I sprained my ankle a little over a week ago. Doc said there's some torn ligaments, and I have to wear a brace. I have an extremely high pain tolerance so I am not in pain, just a little sore (mostly, my knee is sore from walking funny with the stupid brace!) I know I can do ball bridges and seated machines, as well as kneeling cable exercises for my butt, etc. Any other ideas? Also, I've been doing the stationary bike for cardio. Is this bad? How long until it's safe to move on to an elliptical machine, etc.? I have to wear the brace for a month.

After a night out on the booze last night,i needed the toilet,and of course being the worst for wear,as i was finishing,pulled my zip up only to find there was still abit of skin left out,as you can inmagine the pain was so great i nearly blacked-out,luckly there were two other gentelman using the toilet aswell(well using the same w.c cubical),who responded to my wails,and helping to extract the offending flesh from my zip,has anyone else had this.....as in will my member be scar`d or not,and is it worth getting a circumcision to stop this happening again(this was really tramatic for me)

I fell out of bed one morning trying to turn off my alarm. I stumbled and hit the table with my leg and then fell to the floor. Later in the day I felt a throbbing in my leg that I hit on the table. I had my roommate feel my leg and she said that it might be just tense. So I just tried to move it a little more. It been a week since it happen and it still hurts and its starting to get more tense. I don't want to go to the doctor unless its serious. I just to know if its still tense or if its a blood clot or something worse.
