Direct the patient to social services, assertiveness training, an attorney who can discuss a trust for healthcare/change of will/power of attorney over estate, police department for restraining order, family counseling, and all other resources available to act in the patient's interest.

The nurse can help her by giving her the information needed to get help i.e. accommodation, Social service etc..

you can't but you can report your suspicions to your superiors, or social servcies or the police. Talk to you direct superior first for what is the correct way to handle this situation so you don't make it worse by stomping into an area you aren't fully trained in.

It`s not your place to interfere, the only thing you can do is report it to social services who would try to involve a social worker.

you really need to report this. As this lady is being abused by her son it is a tricky one, but you need to be honest with her and speak to your manager for their advice.
