Apply warm, damp pressure. If pus is surrounding it, you may need to seek medical attention and get it removed surgically. Do not break any blisters. Also put some neosporin/bacitracin on it to prevent further infection. Any more questions my sn is Horseybabe1990 (yahoo) PM me

No, not unless you could walk around barefoot for a few weeks and let it dry out. I had an ingrown toenail for about 4 years and was sort of waiting for it to go away by itself but as long as you have to wear shoes and walk around it will not heal itself. I remember the agony, especially when you accidently knock the toe. Anyway in the end I went to the chiropodist who carried out a bilateral nail avulsion. This is where they remove slices of nail from each side of the nail to make it narrower so it doesn't stick in the soft tissues anymore. They put a chemical in the area which stops the nail growing back in the strip they've removed so it stays narrower forever. Never had any trouble again after that.

Yes soak your foot in a warm bath in the tub for about 20 minutes then take a cotton swab and put some Hydrogen peroxide on it...to get rid of the bacteria dry it off and put some Neosporin and put a band aide...do this everyday until it stops hurting...
and when u cut your toe nail, make sure u cut it into a notch...the nail is cutting into your skin and that's why you get this ingrown toe nail..
My daughter has this right now...and it's taken a week for it to go away!

unfortunately, you need to go to the doctor. If you start trying to fix it yourself, you could do more damage. I am prone to ingrown nails and I know how painful it is for you. The doctor can give you instant relief, I would really recommend that you go.
