What happens to your body specifically during the early stages (1-7 days) of quitting cigarettes? I'm curious to know because i'm in day 4 of not smoking (smoking for 8+ yrs) and i'm getting some weird affects on my body since i've quit, one being that my cough got worse.

I love to sleep late at night. i usually sleep at 3am. for a past few days, i've been coughing at night and i couldn't sleep. while coughing, i have this ticklish feeling in my throat and a hissing-wistling sound too. could it be vocal cord dysfunction or just my imagination? oh, yeah, after that, i coughed out a thick mucus/ phlegm. what's wrong with me?

I had Strep throat first. Once I finished the antibiotics, I started with the Bronchitis which turned into pneumonia which turned into asthma. Then when the antibiotics were finished I had a Sinus Infection. Took more antiobiotics. Now that those are finished, I feel like it is starting all over again. Sore throat, earache, chronic cough, some headaches, some dizziness, and a little tightness in chest after coughing. My doctor says it is still asthma. What is taking me so ling to get better? Any ideas?. I'm tired of being sick. I've been out of work on short term disability because of this. I should also mention that I am a smoker which I know doesn't help, but I know is not causing the recurring problem/

my friend told me that I should go to the hospital because of how often I have asthma attacks, and he told me that asthma can cause cancer. I was flipping through a book on asthma, and I did see something about cancer, but I'm not sure if it's just a theory.

If someone knows anything about this subject, please tell me all of the symptoms! thank you!

my dad has been in ICU for about 4 days, due to pneumonia....he had a blood transfusion and also they placed an IV on his chest so that the antibiotic can go directly to lungs...but he's still the same...now they put his oxygen up...

It's very stressful

does he have a chance to survive?
or should we just take him off life support and let him go?
