I've had this often, and if what's coming out of your nose is clear, then it's an allergy of some sort. A decongestant isn't that effective for allergies alone; it's for being congested.

What you need is an ANTIHISTAMINE. Antihistamines counteract the body's reaction to exposure to an allergen (what's making your nose runny).

To put it simply, when you are around what your allergic to (i.e., the allergen), your body produces histamines, as a misguided effort to rid you of the allergen. So, you may have a runny nose, itchy eyes, asthma, or even skin rashes when you're exposed to the allergen, so one treatment that really helps is using an over-the-counter antihistamine.

Many doctors recommend an antihistamine like Benadryl. It has the side effect of causing drowsiness, but there are formulas of Benadryl that don't cause that. Read the package carefully before you buy it. There are many brands of antihistamines, including Claritin which is a newer brand that does not cause drowsiness.

The best advice I got from my allergist was to avoid what's causing your allergic reaction. I would also check my furnace filter and replace it if you haven't done so recently.

I would also strongly encourage you to CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR and ask his advice as well, particularly if this condition continues.

It sounds like allergies or something. I'd run over to Wal-Mart or some place like that and get a decongestant. If that doesn't work you could try allergy medicine and see if that helps.
