It depends a great deal on what you are smoking.
If its just pot, then that is quite easy in comparison to the more addictive forms of opiates.
You can stop smoking pot simply by cutting down first.
Promise yourself a big fat one on Friday night's, and make sure you don't smoke any other time. Eventually, something will turn up on Friday nights so you miss a week, and then gradually the desire will fade away.
If something else is being smoked, then, like someone else suggested, you probably nee rehab.

Just do it. You might have to try 10 times. That is normal. But just stop. You might stop for a day. The next time you might stop for a month. You will fail, but you have to keep trying. You have to break the habit, so if you replace it with something, it is easier to fall back into the habit. 1. Wake up in the morning and say. I will not smoke today. 2. Throw away all of your ashtrays and cigarettes. 3. Stay away from smoking friends. 4. Do not drink alcohol. 5. Do not buy cigarettes. 6. If you crave a cigarette, do something else. 7. If you feel sick, drink lots of fluids and go to sleep. 8. Wake up day two and do the same thing. Try some other things. Repeat "I am not a smoker." Snap a rubber band on your skin when you think about smoking. Stay in places where smoking is not allowed. Try to live a normal life and do things to reward yourself for not smoking. If you fail, then try again as soon as you can. It will be easier the second and subsequent times. One day, on November 11, 1994, I smoked my last cigarette. I loved smoking. It was great, but it was time to stop. I am glad that I did.

First of all, I would avoid any 12-step oriented "help" at all costs. It is desperately religion-focused and will only serve to convince you that you have no control and put you into contact with other unhealthy people.
Second, I'd become determined! Lots of people quit bad habits and you can too. If you are having withdrawal symptoms, you may need to see a doctor or get to the E.R. to make sure you are safe. After that, it's up to you!
There are TONS of things you can do to make it easier on yourself...though it's never going to be THAT easy. What you do depends on what kind of person you are. You can harness your own values, talents, and joys and use those to replace the bad behavior. Pick something to do everytime you feel like lighting up...go for a run, knit a sock, take a bath, whatever...something you enjoy doing that you are GOOD at, and that hopefully is beneficial to you rather than harmful.
Take the money you would have spent on drugs and put it in a jar. Spend that money on something you enjoy instead...something that doesn't make you feel like crap and destroy you.
If you're close to your family or have understanding friends, use them as a resource. That may only mean that you spend time with them, not that you indulge all your personal humiliation to them.
Join the library, join a book club, join a soccer team, join a health club...do anything besides harm yourself. You CAN do it...you're not powerless, you don't have to sit in meetings and listen to other peoples' horror stories (unless it helps you to do so, then by all means).
This is not a life sentence!! I wish you all the luck in the world. I know it's hard, but you are tougher than you think.
See www.peele.org and www.smartrecovery.org for lots of good discussions about addictive behavior and some support!

Try going to rehab? Get some support from poeple who love you, and maybe find a healthy habit. You dont want to do this no more and thats a start. Try church.
Pray and Pray to god that he will deliver you.
Think back to the first time you started. What was life like before?
You dont need that stuff. Look up pictures on the internet of whatever you are doing and see what it does to your body.
Print and post reminders every where so you remind yourself not to do.
Create a habit of not smoking drugs.

You need to find a specialist.
Get to a clinic, rehab centre, anything.
You can try doing it alone, but its so much harder than when you've got someone to help, someone who knows what they're doing.
You're smoking it now, just wait till thats not quick enough and you have to be shooting it up your arm (hence the aids thing from above)
Keep in mind (it may help) that depending on what drugs you're taking, you could kill yourself, you could contract aids, so if you ever got a girl pregnant, shed have the aids and so would your baby.

You need help. You can't do it by yourself. Put yourself in detox and rehab. They will get you to stop using, then when you get out you need to continue by going to NA meetings. You don't EVER have to use drugs again. Seriously. It's up to you. Are you happy with the way your life is right now? If not, get help. Find a meeting near you: http://www.na.org/

I think you should not attempt to do it alone. If you let people know you have a problem they'll probably be willing to help you. Find a program or rehabilitation center and enroll yourself in it. There will be people there who will understand and help you quit.

It will be very difficult until you make up your mind that's what you really WANT to do. When that actually happens it will become easier. Find a way to start heading that direction and make it happen. Good luck to you!

This is the first step, taking back your life. This is going to be one of the hardest things you are going to have to do. You have to get into a program, for drug treatment. get in one that you have to stay their for a few months. realize one thing, that you are doing this for yourself. Take God with you, and he will see you through.
