I've been having a problem as of late, I'm going to start college in a few days, and I wake up during the middle of the night shaking.. as if I'm having a panic attack... my heart is racing and I have problems breathing. I have these off and on, and now I'm having trouble sleeping.. I sleep maybe 4 hours a night if I'm lucky. When I'm awake during the day I'm not worried about anything more than usual... but my body seems to be going through a lot of stress. I'm a virgin and I'm a week late for my period, and I keep having these anxiety attack symptoms. Any idea whats up with me?

Hi, I have smoked 20 a day for 8 years now, but for the 1st half of the day, I find myself coughing up thick brown stuff. I'm just wondering if this is anything serious? Also, when I lie down, for example in bed, my left lung seems to be raised-I cant get comfy as it seems like there's something sticking in underneath.

Thanks a lot

I often feel a little self-conscious/embarrassed to let others know that I suffer from asthma and missed work because of it. Do people really understand that when you're asthma gets out of control, it's not your fault? That when you experience a severe attack, it is not only terrifying but sometimes uncontrollable and physically debilitating? I have a friend who thought that if I just ignore it, it would go away/not be as bad, like when you suffer through a cold. It seems as if some people either think it's just a psychological problem or they think you can just take your inhaler and then get better and that's all there is to it.

Are people that educated about asthma as they should be? Does anyone else feel a little self-conscious when you admit that you're an asthmatic?

I recently found out that I have "nasal septum spur" and this is why I have problems breathing now and then. One doc. said I need surgery to correct it (Septoplasty) and another doc. said to ignore it. Can someone plz tell me what u did if u ever experienced this Nasal Septum Spur problem and if you did the surgery - could u PLEASE walk me through what your ENT doc. did and plz say what u think about the surgery.. I am scared to death of doctors much less surgery - so if I can, trust me I'll pass on the surgery. However, I want to make the best decision here - PLEASE HELP!!!

It doesn't affect me in speaking, and I can still sing OK, but I don't feel I've got as much power as I used to. I'm not a professional singer, or ever had lessons. I only sing once a week (in church) and with the children at home sometimes.

Our baby Caitlyn was born at 24wk 6 days gestation, after being on a ventilator for 2 months she started showing signs of progress and was put on c.pap, then onto an headbox she was doing really well until two weeks ago. Then for the past two weeks her oxygen requirments have slowly increased and dispite our concerns the doctors have been saying theres nothing, Now she is on 100% oxygen and the doctors are seriously concern, when we ask if test result are back they say Not Yet! Their not telling us anything. Her breathing is rapid sometimes over 100 resp's per minute. Heart rate is sometimes over 200 and she has a temp of upto 37. 5 but their managing it with no clothing and fans. What could be the cause of this?

That got you looking. No, this is a serious question - when you have a chesty productive cough is it better to spit or swallow what you produce. We, in my family, have all got coughs, I asked the doc the same question in respect of my daughter and he said it didn't make any difference, but I'm interested to know if this is really the case.
