Could be you have a sinus problem. You could need a prescription spray with a steriod. Speak to your doctor about it, if he hasnt done anything about it see an ENT.

My husband had his sinus surgery last year. It helped him immensely. No more sinus problems at all. He wished he's done it years earlier.

I've been there Lynda. Using Vick's Nasal Spray or any other nasal spray is addicting over time. I was hooked for 13 yrs. I'd have the nasal spray in my purse, in every bathroom, even one in my desk drawer at work. There are tiny hairs in everyone's nose. When you continually use the nasal spray it paralyzes those tiny hairs. After time even the nasal spray isn't enough to unblock your sinuses. The ONLY thing you can do is to stop using the Vick's Nasal Spray....cold turkey. Buy a saline solution to spray in your nose and you can take sinus pills to help keep the nasal passages clear. I received all my information from a nose, ear and throat doctor, and it worked. Check with your physician before taking any sinus medication to help with your addiction, especially if you have high blood pressure.

It's because of the year-long use of nasal spray. The way it works: A blocked nose comes from swelling of the mucosa which comes from dilataion of small vessels in the mucose. The Spray makes the vessels narrow, but this also worsenes the nutrition of the mucosa. To improve nutrition, the mucose swells even more than before - nasal sprays are used again and more.
So, the only way is to stop using the nasal spray. You'll have to breath through your mouth for several weeks, but there's a good chance your nose will get better.

The rest are all possible, but also you might have what are called nasal polyps (spelling on that not sure of). But it's tissues that can grow in your sinuses and you can't blow them out, and nasal spray will do nothing. You feel congested al the time, and it doesn't seem to get better. My boyfriend had congestion for years and finally went to the doctor and they tried serious meds to clear them up. But the polyps required surgery to go clip them out. So, go to an ear, nose and throat doctor and ask him about the possiblities about nasal polyps. I hope that is NOT a problem you have, but it very well sounds like what happened with my boyfriend. The good news also is that if you do have to go that route (snipping them out) most isurances cover the surgery. Good luck! Other than severe allergies, the only other reason for congestion non-stop for years, that I know of, is Nasal Polyps (or 'sinus' polyps). Read the sites below and see if it sounds like what you might have.

Using sprays only give temporary relief. Try a Neti pot (search Neti on the web). They are usually aroung £14. If you mix a little of the special salt (from the same site) with warm water and pour into one nostril with the head tilted so the water runs out of the other nostril you will find that the relief is longer lasting.

Also you can use as often or as little as you need. It is safe and natural - no chemicals. Cheaper in the long run.

see your doctor as using decongestgents like vick spray continually like you have been doing can cause rebound congestion which basically means you end up dependant on the sprays as stopping usage causes your blocked up feeling to come back they should only be used for around 5 days at a time with a 5 day break.so speak to your gp hope this helps

Using Vicks Nasal Spray for years could well be the problem!

See a doctor, it sounds like you may have sinus or adenoid trouble.
Easily remedied with a minor operation where they rip open your nose and shine industrial lasers into your brain to burn the offending area. When the skin bubbles away nicely and turns a lovely brown, they know your done!

You MUST be having an allergy to some airborne allergen.

This may include dust, pollen, animal fur, smoke ,perfume spray or any other spray, etc.etc.

You should also check with your doctor if you do not have an accompanying Chronic Sinusitis or a Deviated nasal septum.

Good Luck.

There's a chance you have a cycle of rebound congestion going on.

People who use nasal sprays or decongestants can get cleared up temporarily, but then when the dosage wears off the congestion comes back worse than ever.
