This is not just malaria my friend. Malaria doesn't have this prolonged course with these signs, and certainly not for a year. This progressive course suggests ongoing destruction of brain tissue.

A few clarification requests:

Malaria can land a person in the hospital very quickly, particularly falciparum malaria (malignant malaria). It can have dramatic neurological sequelae in survivors. But I have never seen it take this kind of progressive course, where the sole manifestations are neurological.

What happened after she was admitted? Did she leave and then got sick again, or is all of this whilst in hospital for the last year?

Did the blood smears show the Plasmodium in the blood? Which?

Where in the world are you?

Johns Hopkins has an excellent research staff who specialize in treatments for Malaria. You should contact a local doctor in your area and ask them to contact Johns Hopkins for advice.

It might not be malaria. If it is' she can not last 1 year without treatment. she could have other brain problem. seek advise of another doctor, a specialist, who can examine her and can do some more tests.

She needs to be hospitalized (if she isn't already). There is nothing anyone here can help you with. She needs specialists in infectious diseases.
