Aside from ENT's, do any docs ever do cultures anymore or do they all just throw one broad spectrum after another at their patients when they suspect infection.

My sister-in-law has recurrent sinus infections and they put her through so many different antibiotics without ever doing a sputum culture. She believes that this has given her C-diff along with many stomach problems. She did not know well enough to take probiotics with them and the doctor made no suggestion to do so.

I had a swollen lymph node that my doc threw amoxycillin at, which didn't help and then another kind and finally Z-pack(100 bux for 7 pills). They did nothing, fortunately my tummy is ok.

Should I be worried or not? What should I do? I don't believe that I had a fever when I took the asprin but I have had one in the last few days, and I am above the majorly likely Reyes age (4-12 or something like that), but there's the whole better safe than sorry thing...SO does anyone here know more about Reyes than I do?

Anyone had a child who experienced Febrile Seizures? Our son had one yesterday when he developed a 104 degree temp very suddenly. I've been to plenty of websites, but would love to hear from some people with some first-hand experience with them. It was probably the scariest moment I've had as a parent, and I hope he never has to go through it again.

My doctor (orthopedic) performed surgery on me in Jan.06. I saw him once, six weeks after surgery, on a follow-up. Since then I've been back 4 times, in hopes of having a face to face with him. Each time I am told he is only seeing new patients and that I will have to see his Physcian Assistant. I tell the P.A. that my back is worse now than before the surgery. The CT scan verifies my complaint. The PA always tells me he will advise the surgeon of my condition and he will get back to me with an answer. The answer never seems to come and I can't see the surgeon. Should I threaten him with legal action?

I knew a few years back that they were working on some artificial cartlidge that can replace/augment disks to relieve pressure on nerves, is that true? Is there anything else that can be done, surgically, with lasers, or something?

(excluding the option of just drugging me into a constant euphoric state)

My doctor said that it's not worth operating on them a few years ago, I'm not sure if he said that because my insurance just wouldn't cover it and it's very expensive. I don't know who to trust really about this, but the problem is getting worse and it makes my life inactive and kindof sad. Almost all exercise inflames the nerves.

have a headache see a doctor, have a cold see a doctor, sore throat see a doctor, i worked in a medical facilitiy for 12 years and have seen several docs come and go and millions of patients, doctors handing out scrips like it was candy just to keep them happy, 99% people come in expecting a miracle cure for a mondane problem and end up getting scrips that are either dangerous or worthless, and in a lot of cases more than you think i have seen the doctor misdiagnose " big one " or mistreat patients, some of these doctors are booksmart retards

I'd like to hear from people who have passed them, and find out if it helped you to walk a lot. Any other things you would suggest? I've had this very small stone in my ureter for 3 weeks, and I'm going to need surgery to retrieve it, if I don't pass it within the next 10 days. Help!!

I've been feeding 11 cats and 4 dogs a combo of wet/dry food from Frys and WalMart for 5 yrs; have found 3 cats in the desert and now have 2 more very lethargic, losing weight very rapidly, no eatingor drinking and can barely walk. Onset was very fast-playing one day and legs were unable to support them the next. These cats are not all from the same family-they were rescued-but I've never had a problem with their individual health. Don't want to accuse anyone, but, I spend an average of 150.00 per month on pet food and don't want to continue buying a product that may kill them! any info...PLEASE!! Thanks...Sharon

I have an older relative who's in the early stages on Parkinson's Disease. She's using the current drug therapies to reduce symptoms, but, of course, every year her overall health and mobility diminishes. Does anyone know of any successful alternative therapies or up-and-coming mainstream therapies that have had success with arresting this illness. Thanks very much.

I have an aunt who's in her 60's and she's been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Do you think it is worth it to have her operation done, even though the doctors warned us it's a very risky operation and the chances are 50-50, and it will cost a lot of money?

I'm not sure if I spelt it right, but I have blood screening or w/e for Sedrate levels, and they are continualy increasing, they are not yet in the 100's but they are above normal.

I have had upper abdominal pain after eating for a year, but more noticeably I have recently been having SEVERE SEVERE pain in my hands, shoulders, neck, hips, thighs, legs, and knees, sometimes feet...What could this mean since Sedrate indicated inflammatory diseases...

Auto-immune disorders run in the family, Lupus, Arthritis, and fibromyalgia...

My doctor is referring me to a rheumotologist, but what do you think this could be since I am so young...also my lymph nodes are enlarged.

I eat healty, don't drink or smoke, and I am at good weight.
