The sounds you hear are called borborygmi. They're not really coming from the stomach but from the intestines. These can be the normal sounds of digestion and are the gurgling of digestive acids and the passage of intestinal contents. They can also signal intestinal gas. Borborygmi occur at times of hunger and at any time.
