Aside from ENT's, do any docs ever do cultures anymore or do they all just throw one broad spectrum after another at their patients when they suspect infection.

My sister-in-law has recurrent sinus infections and they put her through so many different antibiotics without ever doing a sputum culture. She believes that this has given her C-diff along with many stomach problems. She did not know well enough to take probiotics with them and the doctor made no suggestion to do so.

I had a swollen lymph node that my doc threw amoxycillin at, which didn't help and then another kind and finally Z-pack(100 bux for 7 pills). They did nothing, fortunately my tummy is ok.

I am not a doctor. You may request that your physician to do a blood or sputum culture. Discuss your concerns with your physician. My friend, Shaar, has read a lot about herbs and is now totally anti-physician and anti-pharmacy. Fortunately, she is young and healthy. However, she preaches to everyone and is caring for a woman with MS. There are benefits to some herbal remedies and some do not help others may harm you. Find a physician that you trust and discuss your concerns with him.
