was wondering if anyone knew how much vaginal/fluids & semen would be required for infection to take place. Can the infection take place even if no visible fluids are found on penis after the intercourse. Also, is it possible that HIV hides in nervous systems or lymphnodes and not reproduce antibodies. Then, once it comes out in blood, antibody production begins. Can this be a cause of late seroconversion.

I had sex with my new GF about 10 times and we had a condom everytime, but one day we had a condom break I did not know until I pulled out. About a week later, she had her period. Days later she had some itching. She went to her doctor for a check up on all std's including HIV. She was negative, except for Herpes. She said the doc did not know which type, but she was positive. We do not know who gave it to who. She only had one break out and alleges she had never had a BF for 9 years since she has a daughter. I contacted my previous GF and she said she tested negative for everything. At this point, I am freaking out just like everyone else. We all have seen those horrible Herpes pictures. What I need to know specifically is what are my chances as a man getting Herpes from a woman that has never had a break out, she did not have any break outs and it was one time unprotected. I show no signs. I am still getting an exam next week. But I need peace of mind. GF had a blood test.

Hi everybody - Good Day to all.
I have a daughter who since her birth have problem of throat infection when ever she takes some cold things. Now since two years she has been effected too much and every month or two she has this problem and each time we take her to child specialist, the doctor gives her ANTIBIOTICS. With the caugh syrup or other medicine it does not work.

In last two years she may have taken ANTIBIOTICS minimum 10 to 15 times.

Now she has some skin infection like white patches on her face and neck. We are showing some skin specialist to her for this problem.

Can somebody tell me isn't it too much for a child of less than five years to give ANTIBIOTICS every 2 to 3 months?
And is the skin infection due to the ANTIBIOTICS or it can be other problem?

Is there any permanent solution for the throat infection problem for the child. She will be five years on 27th December 2006.

I will be very grateful for all of your answers and thank you in advance.

I visited CNN yesterday afternoon and saw a video feed dubbing this a controversial statement. Despite all the histrionics and shock, isn't that statement a sad fact? Is it not true that the majority of HIV/AIDS cases are homosexual men???

If you reply with an accusatory "homophobic" reply you will be ignored...

I have never tested positive for a TB test. I had one done a month ago, and I noticed a little bump in the area where I had the test done, but this just showed up now. I am not sure if this is the exact spot where I had the test done, and when I first got it done and read, the test was negative. I just had some redness in the area, but that is not a sign for being positive. I plan on going to the MD tomorrow, but is this common?

What was it like? What did it look like?

My seven year old son broke out with what we thought was the chicken pox on the 18th of September.

Long story short, they kept telling us that is was the chicken pox, don't bring him in he's because he would be contagious yet they never went away. So today I finally took him in and they mentioned scabies, yet in the end they don't know what it is. We are seeing specialist tomorrow.

Anyone with a history or a story to tell about scabies?

Any help would be great! THANKS!

I have been sick for about 12 weeks now. It started with severe pressure on my ears and head, then later that week I started getting really bad dizzy spells; to the point where I can't even stand up. A few weeks later I started getting very bad headaches, my tongue stops working, my body shakes for no reason, I am hot and cold all at the same time, everything that comes in my one ear is distorted and there is almost always ringing in that ear. These things come and go and I never know what to expect. The spells have been getting more frequent like once or twice a day. My doctor has been giving me the run around and keeps telling me I am depressed and am making my body do these things. Please tell me I am not crazy!

My neice is 14 years old and has been very sick the last month. She finally went in for blood tests and they came back as Hepatitis B. She doesn't have sex, or use drugs. She has never even kissed a boy yet. The only thing that she said was that when she was at camp, they all drank off the same water bottles. It's not passed through saliva though!(?) How could she have contacted this? Could it be contacted through the smallest amount of blood, like off someone's bleeding lip?

hi
2 years ago i was doing a routine blood test because i was going to donate blood to a relative , and guess what? the rapid test was positive for hcv ! they told me to do the elisa , i was relieved because i said to myself (sure it will be a false positive) but the elisa came out positive , too .
thats when i felt the world closing in on me ........
you see , i was just graduated from medical university , where i was a top student , and i couldnt wait to sail on into postgraduate study , i dedicated my life to my career in every way..........
i wasnt married yet..................................................
being confirmed as hcv positive was enough to ruin me.

then i read about elisa and i learned that it had a high false positive rate, meaning many people who are positive turn out to be negative on further testing.
and the further test was the pcr.
instead of hurrying to reassure myself and take the pcr , i strangely felt like delaying it as much as i could .

Myself being from the south does not mean that I don't care about the north where the disease is spreading fast. I pray to dear Allah that this calamity will be contained soon enough by our doctors.
