I had sex with my new GF about 10 times and we had a condom everytime, but one day we had a condom break I did not know until I pulled out. About a week later, she had her period. Days later she had some itching. She went to her doctor for a check up on all std's including HIV. She was negative, except for Herpes. She said the doc did not know which type, but she was positive. We do not know who gave it to who. She only had one break out and alleges she had never had a BF for 9 years since she has a daughter. I contacted my previous GF and she said she tested negative for everything. At this point, I am freaking out just like everyone else. We all have seen those horrible Herpes pictures. What I need to know specifically is what are my chances as a man getting Herpes from a woman that has never had a break out, she did not have any break outs and it was one time unprotected. I show no signs. I am still getting an exam next week. But I need peace of mind. GF had a blood test.

The best thing you can do is go see a homeopathic physician.
He/she can help you better than anyone else.
A naturopath, or master herbalist will probably be able to help you as well.

Okay listen, unless you go to the doctors with a herpes sore that they can look at and take some fluid from it they can't diagnose you with herpes.A blood test or an std test will not show that you have herpes. The only was to determine if its type 1 or type 2 would be if they sent the fluid from a fresh herpes sore to the lab.Now read carefully and slowly so you can understand this , if your girlfriend just had a herpes outbreak for the first time that means ahe was exposed to the virus within the past 20-30 days before she had an outbreak. Now this does not mean she cheated on you,the odds are if you are her only sex partner that you gave it to her.You could have the virus and not even know it.You could've had sex with other women and never given them the virus. You can shed this virus at different times it lays dormant in your system then sheds and you would never know you had even shed the virus because you may not get any symptoms.Herpes can also be spread even using condoms because you are still having some skin contact. Even oral sex can spread herpes to the mouth. It is very scary. My sister thought her husband had cheated on her when after 4 years of marriage she had an outbreak, but the doctor told her the same thing i'm telling you.I am very informed on the issue so please feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Most people have some form of the herpes virus. Its the most common virus contracted by humans. Cold sores are actually a form of herpes.
Anyway, If you dont have herpes, You'll probably contract it at some point in your life if you have multiple partners. It doesnt matter what protection you use. If a girl is having a break out its not completely preventable by using a condom. And yes, of course you can get it from one unprotected accident.
But its not certain. You can avoid the highest risk of contracting the virus if she was not having a break out.
So just wait until you get tested and then you will know for sure. This is just the risk of having sex with people who's medical histories you're unsure of, theres no way around it. Except testing at the beginning of a relationship, or remaining monogamous for life.

I'm extremely sorry for the situation you're in. Playing the blame game with yourself and your GF won't help the situation at all. I would strongly suggest that you see your Family Doctor and explain your dilemma. You Doctor will have plenty of information for you and how to determine what type of Herpes you may or may not have. If you're interested in reading information about it, I have a website for you that gives information and you can also ask questions of a Nurse Counselor on-line. Best of luck and whatever you do .... make sure you have safe sex in the meantime. Definitely use condoms. Herpes isn't the end of your life but HIV/AIDS can be! Make an appointment with your Doc! Good Luck!

Herpes doesn't necessarily have any symptoms. The virus works in a way so that it can be active and on the skin surface without causing any of the typical symptoms that you may have seen pictures of. Also, having an outbreak isn't something that happens like a period. A friend of mine got HSV-2 from a guy she was with but only had one outbreak in the last 4 years (that was when she found out she had it). However, as a side note, if you have HSV-1 (cold-sores, a.k.a. non-genital herpes) then it is actually a lot harder for you to contract the HSV-2 virus.

All it takes is one time to contract herpes during unprotected sex. It is possible for someone to contract herpes and never have an outbreak. It is a disease that sits at the base of your spinal column and can lay dormant for years. An outbreak can be triggered by many things such as stress, hormones, or sex. Most men will not show symptoms or if they do they think it is something else & never get checked. It sounds like you are on the right track by getting tested. I hope you test negative!

Herpes simplex is the same virus that causes cold sores. One of you could have contracted if from your mother during childbirth, or it could have been contracted during sexual intercourse with any one of your previous GF or BF. The virus can remain dormant, so one of them may have had it and didn't know it. Once you have it there is no cure, but it can be controlled with medication. You should also try to keep your body at the proper PH by eating plenty of fruit and vegetables. Viruses seem to thrive in a more acid PH environment (although doctors may not agree). You'll find plenty of anecdotal information among people who have tried a diet change and kept viruses successfully at bay.
