I only had one yeast infection--when I was pregnant. I remember going to the store and getting 'meds' that you insert into your vagina. I did not take any meds by mouth. And I agree with the yogurt thing. The good bacteria in it will help fight off any bad bacteria in your body. BUT, I don't think yogurt alone will do it efficiently and effectively.

BTW, until the meds start to work--tell her to take a warm bath with oatmeal or baking soda in it. It will help with the itching.

Hey it is a very common problem amongst women and nothing to be worried about, although it can become very uncomfortable if untreated.
I have been able to nip it in the bud on the first signs by just washing regularly with cool water, no soap, wearing a long cotton skirt with no knickers at home. Eating bio yoghurt. I have never used Boric acid, but that would do it. I swam in the sea and that cured it once. Same kind of salts found in Boric acid apparently.
But if she has got full blown really raw and itchy symptoms go and get some duflucan over the counter.
Here's some useful stuff on the web for treating it naturally and avoiding it in the first place. See below.

there is no way to get rid of it without medication. There is cream sold at stores over the counter for yeast infections. If you friend has a partner, the partner should apply the cream as well so the friend doesn't infect your friend over and over again. TEll your friend to not wait as the infection can get worse.

Boric Acid Suppositories
The most effective natural treatment for yeast infections is boric acid capsules that are inserted into the vagina. Boric acid acidifies the vagina, which restores the natural balance of bacteria and yeast.

Boric acid treatment is especially useful for people with chronic yeast infections that haven't responded to over-the-counter or prescription anti-fungal medications

acidophilus is an over the counter supplement that helps with yeast infections, also yogurt and other foods with good bacteria to regulate your levels again. but really for results you must take medicine prescribed by a doctor or if this isn't her first yeast infection you could use a product like monistat.

This is impossible. Go to the pharmacy and ask for over the counter medications which conist of a set of three vaginal suppositories and some cream. Better yet have her go to a clinic and have the doctor prescibe Diflucan which will get rid of it with just one single pill.

Wear cotton underwear!!! Let vagina air out at night!! Dry yourself well after bathing and urinating. And steer clear of too tight jeans that breed yeast infections.

you don't. Once you have one, you need to either see a doc for Diflucan, or go to the drug store and get Monistat ovules.

Once it is gone, you can use acidopholus to prevent getting them again. You can buy acidopholus at any drug store - and eating yogurt can help prevent them.

Also - bathing often and keeping that area clean and dry also helps prevent yeast infections.
