I had sex with my new GF about 10 times and we had a condom everytime, but one day we had a condom break I did not know until I pulled out. About a week later, she had her period. Days later she had some itching. She went to her doctor for a check up on all std's including HIV. She was negative, except for Herpes. She said the doc did not know which type, but she was positive. We do not know who gave it to who. She only had one break out and alleges she had never had a BF for 9 years since she has a daughter. I contacted my previous GF and she said she tested negative for everything. At this point, I am freaking out just like everyone else. We all have seen those horrible Herpes pictures. What I need to know specifically is what are my chances as a man getting Herpes from a woman that has never had a break out, she did not have any break outs and it was one time unprotected. I show no signs. I am still getting an exam next week. But I need peace of mind. Share those valuable stories!

2 of every 5 people has herpes......you can catch it even with a condom, warts too are not prevented by condoms...............some epolpe have it and NEVER break out they just spread it..............some people never spread it................it is a virus and will do whatever it wants whenever it wants to whomever it wants and there is nothing you can do to stop it besides don't have sex ever. 2 out of every 5 is a high percentage so just deal with it buddy everybod has it

Disregard some of the other misinformation here--have NO idea where those people got their facts, but they are dead wrong! First of all, the virus is found only in the sores themselves--not vaginal or seminal fluids. You did not say WHICH kind of herpes he has: HSV-1 (oral herpes/cold sores-or oral herpes spread to the genitals via oral sex), or HSV-2 (genital herpes). Sorry for asking, but people here often don't know the difference! IF your partner has oral herpes, you can contract it by kissing him when there are sores present and for 3-5 days after the sores have lost their scabs. The virus also sheds invisibly about 3% of the days per year, so it is hard to predict when that is going to occur. IF you partner has genital herpes, he can reduce the chance of transmitting the virus to his partner to just 1% per year by: Taking antival meds ALWAYS wearing a condom Avoiding sex during an outbreak and for 3-5 days after Again, the virus sheds invisibly with HSV-2 as well, so the risk is always there. Be aware that you can contract herpes by skin-on-skin contact anywhere in the "boxer area," so if his sores are not restricted to the immediate genital area and are on the buttocks, thighs, stomach, etc., you can contract the virus this way as well--and it happens quite often. Before you commit to unprotected sex, educate yourself with the Herpes Handbook at the site below. It's free, NOT spam, and is from one of the nation's most well-known STD clinics. By learning more about the disease, you will at least have all the facts before you make a decision.

Herpes is probably the most comment STD. The thing about herpes is that it is a virus, and remains in your body regardless of treatment. There is no cure. Medication (like Valtrex) only serves as a way to make the outbreak go away, you can never get rid of the virus itself. Like any virus it can go dormant, and you might not have a break out for a very long time, of course herpes can still be transferred regardless of an outbreak. Because the virus is in your bloodstream and bodily fluids. There are varying kinds of herpes and they can interact. Cold sores/genital sores etc. There doesn't seem to be any difference between men and women as far as viral transfer. Good luck...

It only takes on time but BUT BUT, Ive got tested for STD's and came up negative about a month ago. A week later some lady with cold sores came into my store and the next day I had one. Cold sores are a form of herpes. ORAL herpes to be precise. If I were to go down on my boyfriend when I have a break out of coldsores, more than likely he will get genital herpes. So it is possible that you didn't get it from sex except for oral. So thats my story of how I got "HERPES"

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

You may not get it but you may have it in your blood and some day when you immune system will go down it may show up or nerve.

I was in your situation long time ago...I know how you feel. you don't need to be afraid. After that day my girlfriend didn't have any sign that she has Herpes. And me it has never showed any sign at all.

Next time try not to forget you have condom when you are having sex

emmm

there are 2 types of herpes, one of which 90% of people have (causing cold sores.) the other type is the bad kind. there is no way the "doctor" would not know which type of herpes she has. you both need to go to a clinic and get tested together and talk to a real doctor. and yes, you can get herpes from having sex only one time.
