It usually means IntraVenous

intravenous is a way of giving medicine or fluid - it means into the vein

IV can also refer to the little tube we put into a patient so we can take blood and then give intravenous medicine. It usually comes on a needle so it can get through the skin - once it is in the vein, the needle comes out and the little tube gets a plug put on the end and stuck down with a dressing and then we can give medicines or fluid through it.

I.V. stands for Intra Venous, which means 'into the vein'. It is a needle attached to plastic tubing and a bag of fluid. The needle is inserted into a vein in the arm or back of the hand, and it allows the fluid to slowly drip into the body. It is used for re-hydration and a way to deliver certain medicines into the body.

it stands for intra-venous, meaning to put something in a vein. Fluids are fed through a needle into a vein in your body (usually in your arm or hand). The type of fluid can be saline solution, blood, antibiotics or a glucose mixture.

IV stands for Intravenous. It's a tube that is connected to a vein so that the medicine goes directly into the bloodstream.
