I've just read a book where a character dies of yellow fever.
She is talking normally, although ill in bed, but in the time it takes for another character to reach the door of the bedroom she is dying horrifically. Black liquid is pouring from her eyes, nose, mouth and ears. She is dead within minutes.
Now, I know that you can have black vomit with yellow fever. This is because of intestinal haemorrhage.
BUT - black liquid coming from the eyes and ears? Is this realistic, and if so, what would be causing it?
