Most people have contracted HSV-1 during childhood, usually from sharing sodas or eating utensils.
He should not, under any circumstance, ever "go down" on you with an active sore, however, because both HSV-1 and HSV-2 can infect either the mouth area or the genital area.
HSV-1 is NOT only above the waist, HSV-2 is NOT only below the waist. A significant number of new infections of genital herpes are due to HSV-1 because of this myth. The virus does not know nor care which nerve ganglia cluster it's infecting. It's just found a nice area to lay dormant til it decides to act up.
There are 8 different types of herpes virii. HSV-1 and HSV-2 cause your cold sores and/or genital herpes. Varicella-zoster/HSV-3 causes chicken pox, which lays dormant in the nerve ganglia and may break out as shingles later in life. Epstein-Barr /Mononucleosis /"Kissing disease" /HSV-4 is another disease caused by a virii in the herpes family. HSV-4 can turn into Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma later in life. Bet your doctor didn't tell you that when you were sick with mono as a teenager. These are the most common herpes virii infections.
Everyone is NOT born with HSV like this guy says below. That's just an outright lie.
Genital warts are NOT herpes. Genital warts are caused by HPV, and there are some 20 common strains of HPV, many more total. HPV can infect you anywhere. Any kind of wart is usually caused by HPV.

Well it's a fact that 1 out of 6 people have some form of herpes. (I'm a health professional)
I wouldn't automatically assume that he's cheating b/c Herpes simplex 1 (above the waist) is so easily transmitted. He could have unknowingly drank behind someone who had herpes. You never can tell.
The best thing to do is ask him about it. Maybe he has no clue that it's Herpes. Most people are so use to saying fever blisters, they don't connect the two.
Communication is definitely the key and PLEASE avoid direct contact with the blisters b/c they are very contagious.
Once he's been diagnosed, he can get a Rx for some Valtrex which should help him.
There is no cure for Herpes but it will help him clear up the blisters faster and with less pain.
Good Luck

The herpes simplex virus is indeed the cause of cold sores on the mouth but it doesn't mean he has cheated on you to get them. I have had these intermittently since I was a kid. Stress, sunshine, poor diet etc. can bring them on. Once you have been exposed to the herpes virus it stays dormant in your body until conditions are right for it to flare up. If I get too much sun, summer or winter , I tend to get one. There is a wonderful medication called Famvir, an anti-viral, that will stop the sore from developing if taken at first signs or lessen the severity of the outbreak. My daughter had them so severe at age 9 that she almost had to be hospitalized. The first episode is usually the worst. She has had hardly any since then and she is 22. Sounds like some communication needs to take place though about your concerns of him cheating. Best of luck. Very contagious so restrain your contact.

There are different types of herpes. Many people carry the herpes virus around with them. They are responsible for cold sores, but that does not mean that he is cheating on you. If you have ever had a cold sore, that too was caused by the herpes virus. Genital herpes is a little different, however.

Herpes is a virus that never goes away - it's just dormant for periods of time. It is possible to be born with the herpes virus, or to pick it up as a child as a result of contact with someone who had cold sores on their face. There are 2 types of herpes - the type which causes cold sores, and the type that causes gential warts, and type 1 (cold sores), is much more common. Don't jump to conculsions and simply ask him if he's had a problem with cold sores in the past.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/herpestreatments2015rYMS
Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

lol
there are many different types of this disease (herpes)
A cold sore or sores on your mouth are far more different than genital warts.
Everyone is born with whatever causes cold sores just like cancer, everyone is born with it but it does not come out in everyone. this reverts to the blood and white red cell count.
Some people get it some people dont. On the face it can mean he lives in a cold area, has a runny nose and does not wipe it or he wipes it to much creating a red sore nose and top lip. It can become that sore, red and infected that it can turn into a cold sore.
however you cannot get these symptoms on your penis by this method.
If he was to oral pleasure you on the burger with these sores then you have a chance of getting some form of infection.
Look up herpes and herpes simplex virus as i have done for you.
Different dtrengths and differnt meanings, carriers, facial gentital, there are many!
Dont be jumping on his case saying he is cheating thats an easy way out if you want to break it off!
Take him to the doctor there are many creams he can apply to his face!
