my sister who is 30 went to the doctor yesterday over back pain......her blood pressure was high 143/97 and her pulse was 143 so the doctor administered an ekg which showed she had a heart attack he then sent her to a cardiologist his ekg machine said the same so he then administered a stress test and sonogrammed her heart he gave her the all clear that she had in fact not had a heart attack....and told her to check up with her regular doctor today and test for an infection that may be causing the fast pulse rate and blood pressure im just wondering what can cause the ekg to say she had a heart attack when she didnt and what do you think is causing the blood pressure and fast pulse rate thanks.

As a pre-caution and prevention to future possibilities of heart complications, what are the regular yearly or half-yearly tests one can recommend for a 40 year old as the theory of "prevention is better than cure". Is EKG or ECG twice a year enough?

Would appreciate answers from personnels of the medical profession.

is it from diastolic dysfunction causing backflow of blood into the pulmonary vasculature or from another cause. Most references do not pin the cause on a good physiologic reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I started taking medicine for high cholesterol a month ago and just went back for a cholesterol retest. It was still high but had dropped quite a bit. Will it continue to go down on the doseage I'm on or does the medicine need to be adjusted? Is a month long enough to see the full effect of the medicine?
