My mother said she is having tests taken and was started on a new Medication(which she didn't tell me the name)and that her family Dr(which is 1/2 a quack anyway)told her, her heart had shifted because she had untreated Pnuenomia for a couple of weeks a few months back(which we knew nothing about).
Is anyone familiar with this Diagnosis or is she just an Old lady that has her facts wrong?

I have had this problem in my upper left chest area and down near my armpit area, and down my left arm, never on the right. Sometimes I get this weird feeling where it feels like my heart stopped but then I can feel it again with a deep beat in my chest. Also, I am having pains in my upper shoulders and neck. My girlfriend says I shouldn't worry, but yet I do because I feel that something is not normal. I do admit I have a tendency to be a hypocondriac, but I really feel that it is not me thinking its there, I really feel something is wrong. Any Ideas of what might be happening to me?

I have high blood pressure--really good and low with meds, a.m. and p.m. I don't have more than the one small glass of wine and have had no repercussions that I know of. My daughter says that it's the damage on the liver--and that it's said not to drink when taking Tylonol, too. That they interact.

Any information on what actually happens internally?

I just had a lung scan done. I could see on the black screen that all these tiny white dots made up an image of one of my lungs. Directly beside that though, only part of the other lung was shown by the little white dots. I am assuming this is showing the lung's function? The o2 being taken in. Is this correct?

If it helps, I am in my 20s, born with congenital heart disease.

I am reading a research paper on the risk of congestive heart failure in rheumatoid arthritis and there conclusion is: "Compared with persons without RA, patients with RA have twice the risk of developing CHF. This excess risk is not explained by traditional CV (cardiovascular) risk factors and/or clinical ischemic heart disease." Can someone explain that to me please if it is possible. Thank you so much.

I am reading a primary article on a study about the risk of congestive heart failure in rheumatoid arthritis. For the results they say: "The CHF incidence rates were 1.99 and 1.16 cases per 100 person-years in patients with RA and in non-RA subjects...." I just wanted to know what 100 person years meant.

...and we can't really convince him to go to the doctor. I know that he reaaly needs to take maintenance medicine for the heart since he's exposed to daily stress and lack of sleep. His blood pressure is always high. and there was a time when he reached a 170+/130+ blood pressure. He tried to take Norvasc before without the doctor's prescription then stopped, and then Co-amoxiclav, and eventually stopped taking it also.
