This is the formula for figuring out total cholesterol. What you didn't tell us is what your Triglycerides are. Without that number I can't tell you if the 208 is accurate.

TC=LDL+[HDL+(TG/5)] or LDL plus the sum of HDL plus TG divided by 5; LDL=TC-[HDL+(TG/5)]

Like the above said just add LDL to HDL to one fifth the triglycerides to get total cholesterol. But Dr Barry Sears found that there is harmful and harmlesss LDL. So to take the harmless out of the formula you divide HDL by triglycerides.

This is better indicater of chances of heart attacks and strokes. If it is around 4 you are doing great. If it is around 1 that is not good. Site below has the best diet for cardiovascular health. Did you get your results in the mail? Mybe it is a misprint. I would ask your doctor. If your cholesterol is 208 that is better than mine ,mine was 240 when my was tested. Oh, also, you need to add in your triglyceride level too 111+ 53+ ?=
LDL + HDL+TRIG= TOTAL

First, be aware that you need SOME cholesterol for your body to function. Your nerves are sheathed in it, and your brain is made mostly from cholesterol and fats. Your numbers aren't bad at all. Also, you should know that your body is capable of manufacturing its own cholesterol. If you go on a super strict diet absolutely devoid of all fats of any sort, your body will just kick in and manufacture them. Do you have a family history of heart disease? How's the health of your older brothers or sisters? Is your father still alive? How's his health? You could make it to age 100 with your numbers and blood pressure. I'd say get out there and enjoy life, and don't obsess on your lab values. That's your doctor's job, not yours.

Natural Cholesterol Guide?

Don't worry about the overall number. Instead, be concerned about getting the HDL up as much as possible. The best natural way is with Nicacin, the timed release type (don't take it unless it's time release). I take SLO-Niacin brand.

Triglycerides are part of the "total cholesterol" too, so that is likely the number that is missing.
