The operative procedure is most complicated one and involves the removal of both diseased kidneys and the spleen prior to inserting a healthy donor kidney. The new kidney is placed in the pelvic region, where its main artery and vein can be rather readily sutured to the large vessels (hypogastric artery and iliac vein) in the vicinity and where the upper end of the ureter can be connected to the urinary bladder.
It has been found that permanent survival of a grafted kidney is most likely to take place when the organ is transplanted from one identical twin to another. Transplants are most successful when the kidney comes from a living relative.

And the donor should also have had his/her 3Hepatitis B shots

yes it is possible to find a match other than your fmaily but it is very rare.
