I am told by cardiologists that no preductable guarantees of success are possible with inotropics and IV diuretics. They say it varies by degree of left & right ventricular damage from MI. Many failures & non-responders exist using diuretics treatments. So then if you were admitted, how long was your stay until they said your edema had resolved safely. ?How long did you remain free of edema till it recurred again? (they say it always does, regardless of treatment modality) did you have respite of 1 month, of what time period? And did sodium restriction, fluid restriction & diuretics at home help to keep your edema from recurring? Please share with me. I have severe edema since Nov. which came on rather quickly. liver is exploding with ascites. Thighs & legs are rigid as wood, under intense pain & pressure from fluids within. I cannot flex my legs to wear my pants and climb stairs or ambulate hardly at all. My breath is gasping, sleep is near impossible, I am weak and listless.

I had triple bypass surgery in dec of 04 at the age of 35. I was on a vent for 6 days because they say they didn't know I had the start of pneumonia, same as they didn't know I was allergic to a med used during surgery that stopped my heart. I had more complications from the vent in which I had to get a trach and throat surgery but by April was pretty much okay and healed. My sternum opened up again in July and all the wires broke. On 1/6/06 they operated to remove the wires and stabilize the sternum by placing the pec muscles over it. It was more comfortable and didn't move anymore but I got mersa in a tiny bit of the incision that was found 2/5/06. When they reopened the whole incision it didn't heal as tight so now the sternum moves a lot and is still open a 1/4 in. You can stick your fingers in it when I cough. The doctor finally felt it today and said I need it rewired. After all I went thru at this hospital, I'm seriously debating whether or not to have surgery, Any ideas?

I'm 21 years old, and am in what I consider good health. I have smoked though for about 2 years, but I dont think that is what is causing my problem... I started having palpitations when I was 16. I had an EKG which showed an abnormal reading, so I had an echocardiogram, which was normal. My doctor tried assuring me that if anything were wrong with my heart, they would have found it, and that the cause of my palpatations was benign. Last spring, I had surgery for my ankle and they did a EKG b/c of my history, and again it was abnormal. Now 21, I still have palpitations like I did when I was younger. My heart probably beats irreguarly 1-100 times a day (stress makes it worse) and has had me concerned now for 5 years. What do you think this means? I feel if I go back to the doctor, a second echo will be done and will be fine, and they will tell me nothing. Is this just a benign thing that I may have for the rest of my life, or is this potentially something thats going to kill me one day?

Or is this something that needs to be brought to the physicians attention? This is the fifth or sixth time in a week this child has said their heart is beeping and they hear it in their ear and feel it with their hand and it's not brought on by strenuous activity. I'm starting to get worried . Serious answers please, this is my precious granddaughter I'm talking about.

My mother got checked out by a doctor yesterday and he told her that she has a blood clot in her leg. He gave her two injections to break it down and also put her on warfarin to make her blood thinner. She had 2 blood clots in the past and ended up in hospital both times. Now the doctor only gave her the medicine and told her to contact him as soon as her leg starts feeling worse. He said that she spotted it early enough. Does the doctor know best? Should I just trust his opinion? How safe is it if a blood clot gets spotted and treated early?

example: ill be relaxed, and then something will spark a thought process. if it leads to something intense like a fight or exciting activity it feels like i get a SHOT of adreniline straight to my heart. its like an immediate rush, going from a 0 (being relaxed) straight to a 10(complete rush). it only lasts a fraction of a second, then its gone. my heart also has a tendency to beat EXTREMEMLY fast and hard during exciting movies or while playing poker at the casino. is this normal?? i dont have health insureance, so dont just say go to the doctor. give me some real answers.

It's 1 AM in NY and all I really wish is that those of you who believe in Jesus as Lord or are devout Jewish worshipers of Ha-Shem Tov (Blessed be His Name) make petitions to G-D for my sake. Cardiologists made clear that this is incurable and often uncontrollable. The greater the damage from the heart attack, the harder it is to control th deadly fluid buildup. No cure is now possible, and even 6 mos in a hospital cannot promise an improvement. I realize that my best and only hope is in Ha-Shem & in His mercy. - and in My Lord the Meshiach Jesus. I do not tonite ask your medical advice - only your prayers to the Lord Whom I adore. If you wish to do a good deed, pray for me that the Lord heal me or take me soon from my great swelling & pain. I tahnk & bless each of you who will pray for me tonite sincerely. Knowing that I have your prayers gives me hope for a speedy relief.

If you are familiar with this term you should hopefully know what it means, it's like experience a heart attack or similar such feelings- for me, it's been tight chest, breathing problems, fluttering/chest pains. If you have it ,what can you tell me about your condition? Symptoms? Has it gotten better? Do you take anything for it? Doctor wants to refer me to a cardiologist when I can afford it, but assured me I'm fine and nothing fatal will happen, but want to see how to cope with it better. It is stressful!
