My father died in 2005 during a doubutamine stress test. It's an non-invasive test used to eval CAD (coronary artery disease) for people who can't exercise on a treadmill. There is only a 1% chance of the test actually causing a heart attack that results in death. I just want to know if someone else has had this experience?

In the programmed data the base rate is written as 60 for the DDD pacemaker. But I find the pulse rate of the patient is varied from time to time. In the morning it was 58 and evening it is 45. Sometrimes it goes above 70 also. I want to know whether base rate and pulse rate are same. Is there anything wrong in the pacemaker?

I have had a cold for about a week now and earlier today something happened to me that happens everyonce and a while. I'd say about 1 a month or so. I'll be sitting there and my heart will start racing for about 10 seconds and then it will go back to normal. Would this be caused by my cold? Anyone ever had this? It's a scary feeling. :(

Im 21, 5ft 5in 130pounds, BMI 21.6 healthy. But i keep having pains under my left boob and in the center of my chest a half inch above where my rib cage meets but only like 5, quick 1 secound surges then it gos away for a few hours. Im super tired all the time and if i do find the energy to go to the gym I feel fine unless I get a heart rate of 176 or higher then I will almost faint. No family history of heart problems, No smoking/drinking, No medications, No STD's, No Mono.......Possiably the only thing I can think of is stress...

Could this not be a serious problem?

One week ago, I began to notice rectal bleeding as well as blood in my urine. After bloodwork results were observed, my primary care physician (a clinic resident) didn't want me to stop Plavix as he feared it would cause restinosis of my stent. Since I was not enemic he advised me to continue Plavix and closely monitor any changes. Does this sound like good advice? What should I do?

I recently experienced some chest pains and consequently attended the A&E department of the local hospital. I under went a series of tests and was told everything was ok except I have a mild case of left ventricular hypertrophy.
For several months I have been receiving treatment for hypertension. This remains high at approximately 150 over 90, despite the fact I am taking four different types of medication. My mum and dad both had hypertension.

I run regularly and have completed four marathons. Should I be very concerned, am I worrying too much and is it advisable for me to run? I couldn't really get a definitive answer from my GP.

i am 22 years old and have a pacemaker due to my sinus node modification. Frequently my own heart rate overrides it throughtout the day. To get to the point. I was hospilized a week after my placemaker implantation for difficulty breathing. They did not mention to me which i found when i got a copy of my chart. That i had 4 episodes of ventricular tachycardia and 2 of atrial tachycardia durning my sleep at a heart rate greater than 170. Is that wrong they send me home and not tell me. I still feel throught the day. They changed some of my setting and send me home in less than a day without monitoring the changes. Is this wrong not to tell me? I have numers irregular heart beats in sinus rhythm.

I am 25 and was diagnosed with MVP when I was 12, and that was the last time I saw a cardiologist as well. When I have mentioned it to my doctors along the years, they have not seemed very worried because they cannot hear the characteristic clicking the valves make. I was wondering if you can outgrow MVP? I still have problems with occasional headaches, palpitations, extreme caffeine sensitivity and seasonal affective disorder which makes me think that even if they can't hear it, it might still be there.

I'd feel REALLY stupid going to the doctors for this kind of "fluttering" in my throat that's been happening on and off for the last week or so. Has anyone had this??
I don't actually feel like my hearts beating overly fast, it's just this dang fluttering I'm getting! It's driving me crazy!!
Any thoughts??
