Tell me.When you were treated in hospital or out, if they gave you diuretics, did you totally succeed? I mean, did ALL the pitting edema in your thighs, calves,, ankles, feet, distended abdomen & painful water accumulations COMPLETELY disappear,?? did you weight retturn to normal? How long did it take for your bloodstream to re-absorb the water which leaked out of the capillaries, to begin with - to give you this painful edema? I ask since I have ZERO response to loop diuretics and others - NO EFFECT!! ONly dizzy, groggy, fevers & toxic reactions. I am alone, uninsured, terrified of hospitals & their treatment protocols for CHF (they stumble thru trial & error) They can keep me there for months while they cannot predict when the water swelling will disappear. I have ejection fraction 50%. I have both left & right severe ventricular dysfunction & severe global hypokinesis. I had MASSIVE MI after car hit me one year ago, now have major scarring in EVERY wall of my heart.

EKG. It didn't show anything. I'm supposed to have a stress test on the 14th. When I was hurting, it was under my left breast and neck. Can anyone who has a heart problem tell me if they had similar experience?

I experience Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia. My heart rate has been over 300 BPM, which only stops when they give me a shot in an IV of adenosine. They say it cannot kill me because it is atrial, and they always send me home the same day. It has happened 5x since I was 19 (I'm pushing 31 now). They suggest a cardiac ablation, which can kill me. Are the docs right? It doesn't seem possible that a heart can beat that fast for too long with out giving up on you.

There is a question and answer on this board that was of particular interest to me.

A description of what a CABG is and how it is performed was given. Inside the answer a person claiming to be a Doctor gave the following information to describe a bypass, "bypass is where they take veins from your legs (or synthetic) and graft them onto the existing vessel to 'bypass' the obstruction ".

My question has to do with the word of "synthetic". Has technology advanced to where it is possible to use some type of synthetic material to perform grafts instead of using a persons own arteries and veins?

I've had a CABG performed. It was explained to me that the veins and arteries they used were not in the greatest of shape and that I would probably have to have the procedure done again at some point in time. I asked at the time if there were any options other than using my own veins and arteries. I was told no. Has this changed?

I posted a while back, about my.. well now he is my boyfriend :D
But, I was talking about how he has a hole in his heart. He's had this since he was little, and I'd just like some information on it.

He told me that he could get a heart transplant, but refused to do that. Also, that the hole is too close to a mjor artery or nerve to actually 'fill' it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to learn as much as I can, because it's really hard to know that he might die in a few years.
