i am 22 years old and have a pacemaker due to my sinus node modification. Frequently my own heart rate overrides it throughtout the day. To get to the point. I was hospilized a week after my placemaker implantation for difficulty breathing. They did not mention to me which i found when i got a copy of my chart. That i had 4 episodes of ventricular tachycardia and 2 of atrial tachycardia durning my sleep at a heart rate greater than 170. Is that wrong they send me home and not tell me. I still feel throught the day. They changed some of my setting and send me home in less than a day without monitoring the changes. Is this wrong not to tell me? I have numers irregular heart beats in sinus rhythm.

Are you still in the adjustment phase of your pacemaker or do you have a defibrillator? Some doctors will not come out and tell patients about their conditions until the patient asks. That's just how it is. Maybe you should ask your doctor next time you see him.

The pacemaker monitors itself. I assume you go back to your doctor periodically for checks (most people go once a month or so)? They will be able to tell then if you have had epsodes of tachycardia.

The changes in your pacemaker settings are the treatment for the tach episodes. Your other questions are best answered by your EP doctor.

Hang in there ...don't panic....but do go back to your doctor and voice your concerns...if you can't talk to your doctor...it's time to get one you can talk to...good luck and I will pray for you....
