Absolutely! It's not good at all but yes, especially if it runs in the family. Also, it depends on your diet the week prior to the test. You can build up blood level cholesterol and it will look like you have a high level, but it may have been a temporary dietary change. If you go back for another test, do not eat anything with cholesterol two weeks before the blood is drawn and you should see a significant drop. This means No dairy products, No Eggs, No processed foods with cholesterol.

Having to take medication for cholesterol when you don't need to is not good at all. Some medications cause bad cramps and nausea, and sometimes diarrhea.

Yes, they can. Usually, if cholesterol levels are that high at that age, there is a strong genetic component. I've treated patients as young as 21 who have had strokes because their vascular system was like an 80 year-old.

aren't there teenages that have cholesterol that high? It comes from sitting on your ***, playing computer/console games, and not doing anything with their life..
