I have had a cold for about a week now and earlier today something happened to me that happens everyonce and a while. I'd say about 1 a month or so. I'll be sitting there and my heart will start racing for about 10 seconds and then it will go back to normal. Would this be caused by my cold? Anyone ever had this? It's a scary feeling. :(

By any chance, is it because you are taking 'OTC cold remedies?"
Some of those can cause heart palpitations. Or is it cause you are coughing alot? Sometimes people experience 'flip flops' of their heart, and can usually amount to nothing worrisome. But, sometimes your heart can actually be in a faster rhythm that does need treatment. The big thing is if you feel dizZy, short of breath, or pain with the palpitation, you should go to an ER. Your primary doc could order an EKG, or a monitor you wear for 24 hrs to 'catch' the beats you are feeling.

It might be associated with your cold. But since you said this happens about once a month, you might be better off seeing a cardiologist about it.

Good luck!
