Hello. I am a diabetic taking glucophage twice a day. Now, my prescription bottles always have the warning, "do not take or avoid taking with alcohol." NOW, there are all these new studies, including one out yesterday that says wine is good for your cardiac health could, STAVE OFF diabetes (too late) etc. I like win but rarely, VERY VERY rarely drink it because of the medication issues. Thoughts on this problem?

My doctor diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes and when I did more research on it I found out that my blood sugar levels were never actually above the level considered "diabetic". Now I need to change insurance companies due to a job change and want that diagnosis taken off my medical records since it wasn't correct in the first place and will likely make my premium higher for my new insurance. Is this possible? Has anyone done this?

I am ordering new supplies later today for my MiniMed pump... I think it's a 511 model. Anyway, I have always used the softset infusion set. Everyone says that is the worst infusion set there is for that pump. There is also the silouette infusion set and the quickset. Does anyone use one of those and tell me what they think? As far as - how easy it is to use it, if it causes bad scars when removed, comfort, etc... My stomach is scarred pretty bad from the softset and would like to change that and how sore it gets... thanks!!

Just wondering if the diabetics on here use a new lancet every time you test your blood glucose? How about syringes? Will you use them more than once? If you do use lancets and/or syringes more than once, how long do you use them before switching to a new one?

any artificial sweetners such as, Splenda, or Equil, what else can someone use ? What natural sugars can I use for things like, tea, coffee, like that ?
I use saccren a little, but it's nasty. I read in a vegetarian diabetic cook book that a small amount of raw honer or molases may be used.
Has anyone read this too ?

I just started on Lantus 10 units once a day. It's been four days. My blood sugar levels are through the roof. Up to 300 never below 200. I am also taking actos and metformin. Yes I am watching my diet, 35 to 45 grams of carbs per meal, low GI foods, plenty of exercise and I work on my feet. I understand it takes awhile to adjust the dose, but geez I have never had levels this high. I don't have very good insurance, these drug costs are killing me. Anyway, I've been taking it in the morning. Is there a difference between taking in the morning or at night?
