Do you agree, or no? What do you think are the benefits of it, and the cosequences?

When I check my blood sugars I get different results each time even in a calibrated meter, when I check in different places. They vary out of range (and I understand that there is a range) Even using several different meters with the suspicion that one may be faulty. When I use the calibration solution, though they all check within range. My physician tells me this is impossible, but it occurs frequently

All the info I read about diabetes, says watch your carbs. BUT, I need to lose weight so I watch my calorie & fat intake. Foods are either high in fat, low in carbs or high in carbs, low in fat!! Yesterday I only had diet food..(lean cuisine, low-fat snacks ect..) My fat intake was only 29 grams, BUT my carb intake was 224!!!! What is a good number for carbs per day?? What's more important?

Adult attractive active female, average weight
starting bg at 12:00 PM 167 mg/dl

Consumed:
lean cuisine chicken club panini 34 g carbs
cinnamon apple sauce 24 g
water

took 4.8 u humalog insulin at 12:00 PM

After lunch activities will include paperwork, internet and listening to a CD.

What will my blood sugar be in 1.5 hours? Closest guess wins!

For those who are diagnosed as an adult? Was it just a random blood test, family history? Or did you feel weird, what symtoms did you feel other then thirsty and urniation? I know those are the most common but what are some other symtoms that made you get checked.

I may have TYPE 2 diabetes. ( I have an appointment next week with Doc) I had a blood test done(by Doc) and my count was 130. ( I fasted for 12 hours BUT I took my liquid methadone before I got tested) I'm not sure if that effects the count?? Anyway, I bought a test kit and did some testing yesterday. Before I ate dinner, my count was 122, (time 6:00) I ate supper, had a Special K snack bar, tested blood (time 7:20) was 130. Ate 3 more bars (yes, I eat ALOT of 'em) tested blood (time 8:10) was 399. Waited 20 minutes, tested again, 192. That was last night. I KNOW I am not doing the testing procedure right, I just wanted to get an idea. Anyway, this morning I tested and it was 107. BUT, I also woke up 3 times in the night and ate granola bars. Is that common for diabetics?? Waking up in the middle of the night and craving sugar?? I do that every night!! I know theres alot here, I was just hoping that someone could tell me if this resembled a diabetics count or am I normal??

The hypoglycemia symptoms I have been having are so bad that I hate the thought of this glucose tolearnce test inducing those symptoms. Have any of you had the test or work in a lab and administer the test? Is there a chance I could pass out or even go into shock if the test makes my blood sugar go low enough? This is my main worry. Also, the test is not being done in a hospital or doctor's office, but in a free-standing laboratory.

If you don't know the answer to this question, please don't answer.

Thanks for your help!

I have been having these symptoms since the summer and have just recently connected them to blood sugar issues. I cut out all breads and found great relief. Then I cut out sugar and have been doing even better, but still feel a little lightheaded about 2 hours after I eat. I am going for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow to see if I might have diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Here are my symptoms before my food modifications:

Shaking/Trembling
Lightheadedness
Dizziness
Sweating, but feel cold
Feel sort of "detached" (hope that makes sense)
Head hurts
Heart seems to beat irregularly

Any help or info is greatly appreciated!

I think I am having blood sugar problems and have been for quite a while. I guess I will know for sure after tomorrow.

About a year ago I began having a burning pain in my foot. I asked a podiatrist could I possibly be diabetic. He said no because if it were neuropathy I would be having pain in both feet.

Does that sound right? Is that true? If you don't know, please don't answer.

Thanks!
