I think I am having blood sugar problems and have been for quite a while. I guess I will know for sure after tomorrow.

About a year ago I began having a burning pain in my foot. I asked a podiatrist could I possibly be diabetic. He said no because if it were neuropathy I would be having pain in both feet.

Does that sound right? Is that true? If you don't know, please don't answer.

Thanks!

I don't think this is gout. The pain is on the bottom of my foot where the arch and heel meet. The problem is not in a joint.

I strongly disagree with your podiatrist. I have experienced burning in my left foot off and on for the last 7 years or so. I also have problems with my hands, arms, and toes falling asleep. I don't know how many times I saw the Doctor, neurologist, neurosurgeon, rhuematologist about my symptoms. I have had EMG's, EVP's. The results of those tests showed slight abnormality - mild carpal in my right arm - negative in my left. Left eye - mild optic neuritis. So I know for a fact that it does not necessarily effect both sides of the body. I also gained a great deal of abdominal weight, noticeably after I had my son. I often wondered if all of this was related to Diabetes especially with the strong genetic predispostion in my family. My past sugars were a little high, but nothing to worry about (as my doctor would say). I was probably pre-diabetic at that time. This past summer I had a physical and my Dr. called to confirm my sugar level was high. I was diagnosed with Diabetes type 2. I'm not even 40 years old. I have been told that I do have neuropthy. I was only told that recently. Well I know that has been my problem since my symptoms first manisfested. In fact they have information that pre-diabetics can experience symptoms o f peripherial neuropathy long before they are diagnosed with full onset Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. Your Podiatrist is not a Medical Doctor. My background is medical and I worked with Physicians for many years. My foot still gets that burning sensation periodically. Never my right foot. In fact most of my neuropathy is experienced on my left side I wish my Doctor would have been a little more informed a few years back about the pre-diabetic syndrome and the connection to neuropathy.

Could be the very beginning of neuropathy, but once your sugar is regulated you will see a big improvement.

I chose the punch flavored instead of orange. It tasted like Hawaiian Punch with about a gallon of sugar in it. It didn't really taste that bad, just REALLY sweet. It gave me heartburn it was so sweet. But I didn't think it was horrible. Everyone made it out to be alot worse than it was...
