I have a cousin who is four years old. She is undergoing chemotherapy(she finished 4 rounds and needs one more) She has nueroblastoma however even though it reappered it never spread. Before they even start the 5th round they want to do a scan to check for any lympnodes. (note after the second round the mass was shrinking we are not sure how it looks right now only after this scan then we will know) If they find any lympnodes then they will perform a surgery. Is chemo supposed to kill the lympnodes. Is there any alternative to surgery? Right now she is at Sloan Memorial Kettering Hospital. If you know about any other hospitals please give me some info. She already went through 2 surgeries and we want her to live a normal life

My grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, it has grown from the size of a grape to the size of a golf ball in a month. She won't do any chemo/radiation or surgery, because she wants the time she has left to be good, and the docs said she has a year left. BUT ... first, if it's grown that fast, how can she have a year? And every instance of lung cancer I've ever heard of has had the patients die much sooner ... like Peter Jennings was given six months and lived like two weeks, and another I read about was given a year and died less than three months later. How long does she have, realistically?

My mom has a lump in her left breast but her lymph nodes are swollen and painful in her right breast. When i look up this on the internet it only says the lymph node is supposed to be swollen in the sae breast as the lump/cancer. She is supposed to have a biopsy in 2 weeks. She has a lump the size of a golf ball but the lump is not painful at all. Is this normal?
Does the cancer actulley hurt or not? What else can the lup be? I need help and support!

First of all, so you'll know how I feel about my breasts - I don't like them. They sag too much and there's too much of a size difference. I've cried trying to find a bra. And when I loose weight, they shrink down to nothing and I look flat chested without bra on. The surgeon gave me a choice of a lumpectomy or mastectomy. With the lumpectomy, I would have to have radiation, and possibly more surgeries if they don't get it all. It's the smaller breast, so threre would be even more of a difference, and it would be misshapen. It's the type that hasn't spread, so with the mastectomy (I'd have them both removed) it would be over and done with. I'd only have to recover from the surgery, then I could get on with my life. I hear prosthetics are uncomfortable, though. If it turns out I can't except it, I could always have them reconstructed. And if a man can't accept it, then he doesn't love me enough. What would you do?

I recently got a new job which provides health insurance... but the problem is that my son around 12 years ago had cancer, he was treated and cured in another country several years ago. If i wanted him to be covered i believe my insurance payment will go up, If i lie and say that no one in the family has had cancer would it matter?

With the talk of changing the donation system to everyone automatically being 'in' unless we opt out, what would happen to someone who had made a declaration to opt out of donating only to find at some point they became in need of an organ donation themselves, would they be none eligible to recieve ...... the system has to work both ways doesn't it??

Two month ago I signed a contract to have a book published and I'm excited about that but since then I have found out that my uncle has cancer and probably won't make it and last week my grandmother was taken to the hospital for shortness of breath. My grandmother had fluid in her lungs, a calcium buildup around her heart valve and blood in her urine. Yesterday I found out she is loosing platelets. I have good reason to beleive she has lukemia. My mother died from lukemia in 2000. If my grandmother does have it then there is a good chance I will get it eventually. I'm scared not just for my grandmother and uncle, but for myself as well. I'm engaged and I don't want him to go through what my father went through when my mother died. What should I do? I have been thinking about making out a will. Should I or am I just jumping to conclusions. Please help. Serious answers only. Non-serious answers will be reported as abuse.

Recently two of my aunts and my uncle were diagnosed with some form of cancer. These are my father's siblings. I was wondering if cancer is hereditary. My uncle has leukemia, one aunt has breast cancer. My other aunt has gone through chemo twice and could possibly go through a third round of chemo in the coming weeks.

My daughter was born today she is blood type A + my wife is O+ and I am AB - . I find it difficult to find information on AB - I find more information on AB+. I am African American but I would like to know what are the origins of my blood type - many of the literature in books and online are very inconclusive. I understand that my blood type is rare however is this blood type usually affiliated with African Americans or some other race?
