It takes about 45 minutes for the procedure and an hour or so in recovery -but that can vary a bit depending on what they find and your recovery time.

As far as how much, if you are referring to the cost, it's going to be in the range of $800 to $1,200. That's for the hospital, GI, anesthesiologist, etc. It adds up fast.
As for how long, the actual procedure is about 30 to 40 minutes. The whole time you'll need to be at the hospital or endoscopy center is about 3 hours. You need to be there an hour or so before to get set up, have the IV put in.
After it's over you have to wait an hour or two for the sedation to wear off. You'll will have to have someone drive you home, they won't let you drive yourself.
I would suggest scheduling it as early as possible. That way you won't have to wait too long before you can eat again.
The worst part as most people will tell you is the prep the day before, see below for some examples.

Having had one done, and understanding how nervous, you may be, I can say that I had to stop eating for a day, and then clear liquids only for that day. I had to take a laxative, to clear my system. The next morning, I went in and with the paperwork, and then the actual colonoscopy, and the recovery, it took most of the morning. It isn't fun to think about, but over all it isn't as bad as you might think.

It's about 45 minutes if that! i would say start to finish including prep. Also some doctors put you out completely and others twilight you. I prefer to be out completely, the weird in between one makes me sicka dn also I don't want to be awake for it, although It was rather interesting to watch since I actually got to see the tumor that was found in my colon. That was the second colonscopy with my surgeon so it wasn't a surprise. But it is definitley better to be safe than sorry!

BEAU R SAYS IT ALL, SOMETIMES THE PREPARATIONS IS HARDER THAN THE PROCEDURE ITSELF. HOPE EVERYTHING TURNS OUT OKAY FOR YOU. GOOD LUCK! THEY DISCOVERED I HAVE COLON CANCER AND CAUGHT IT EARLY ENOUGH THAT I AM LIVING PROOF THAT EARLY DETECTIONS WORKED. THAT WAS 6 YRS AGO AND I AM VERY CLEAR OF THE BIG C AND VERY HEALTHY.
