How do they know this?

My Dad's ex was taken into hospital on Wednesday and given 48 hours to live.
She has had leukemia and everybody thought that she was doing really well and getting close to getting the all clear. She got a chest infection and was rushed into hospital. I don't know what to do. My Dad and Ann were together from my being 4 years old (I am now 28) and they split up 4 years ago. Since then, I have very rarely seen her. Her and my Dad have been on speaking terms and he goes round every Christmas for lunch with all her family (her kids (grown up now) kind of still look at my dad as their dad) and they speak each week on the phone. I went to see Ann in hospital when she was first diagnosed with Leukemia and since then I have only seen her once for her 60th birthday party. Do you think I should go to the hospital?
My dad is there at the moment but he could speak when I just rang him because he was crying. I feel quite uncomfrotable going to the hospital.

My friend has cancer and we just found out that sugar is not good for cancer patients. Infact Cancer survives with sugar. Is this true and if so, what about fruit that has natural sugar is this the same? Is there anything he can eat for snacks in the middle of the night, this seems to be when he is hungry the most. He also has dry mouth and water and tea don't seem to be helping. Please give me suggestions for this and also for regular meals. Thanks for your help! I await all your answers! God Bless You!

I want to be a bone marrow donor, but I am only 16 years old. You have to be 18 years old to be a donor. I was wandering if I can be a donor if I have parental consent.

I have what appears to be a small lipoma under the skin on my forehead. It's harmless, but unsightly.

My options for having it removed without paying are slim to none. I was therefore considering doing the surgery myself.

Are there any surgeons or student surgeons who have removed lipomas and can advise me of anything I should know about self-excision of a lipoma? If I cut the skin with a scalpel (after strilising it of course) will the lipoma pop out easily enough or will it require further manipulation?

Basically how easy is this to do yourself?

Many thanks.

Firstly, whats the difference between CHEMOTHERAPY and RADIOTHERAPY?..

Secondly, for a 70 year old colon cancer sufferer who will be undergoing chemotherapy, what effects should we expect? Will her hair fall out? What about her skin? Anything else I should know?

My mum suffers with Breast./Skin Cancer and has done for the last 4 years, she recieves Chemo twice a month and has been told that the cancer will not go away.

My mum has always wanted to go to Austria, it sounds cheesy but to see the sound of music landmarks etc, and I have wanted to take her for ages. The only thing is it seems she is unable to get insurance for travelling abroad because of her condition.

I would love to make this dream come true but have run out of ideas, does anybody have any suggestions?
