I have this dry hacking / tickly throat thing going on right now as a result of a cold. Its more annoying than anything else. Should I get a suppressant to just make it stop, or should I get an expectorant to loosen it up?
I have no idea when to use one vs. the other.

Thanks.

I am a healthy 17 year old guy. The other day I was doin my business and went to wipe only to find bright red blood all over my toilet paper. I thought this was weird and told my parents. This was yesterday. It happened again today but not as much blood. Is there something I should be worried about or do you think it will slowly fade?

My cousin's wife is going to start treatment soon. Is there anything that I could do to make their life a little better? I was thinking of making a meal and dropping it off. Thanks.

I get these horrible migraines that deaden one side of my face. It looks like I've had a stroke, seriously. I've had all the MRI's and tests, and I was diagnosed with cluster headaches, which the doctor said is a fancy way of saying they don't know what causes them. My problem is I get these 'muscle knots' starting at my hairline and they go in a straight line to the crown of my head. I swear, if I were bald I'd look like one of those Klingons on Star Trek. I also developed one to the side of my usual 'ridge', and the two fibro pressure points on the back of my head also have them now. They feel like bruises- I can't even brush my hair. I'm on muscle relaxers which seem to help (mostly because they just knock me out) but there's not really anything else they can do. I was told yesterday by my specialist it was the way my muscles and nerves work around my face and it was part of the fibro. Does anyone else experience anything like this? Does anything work that won't knock me out?

My 5 yr old son has a bad cough. No fever, no srep, no ear infection. The doctor said Oh well. .....Cough medicines are ineffective according to a new study. Just give him plenty of liquids. I dont remember anything like this coming up as a child. This might sound weird but there is a thing called rogue antispyware. It's basically computer terrorism to make you buy their .software. I think the medical community is doing something similar.

For the past 3 weeks I have had upper abdominal pain that would come and go. I kept telling my doc about it so we had some tests done. I had an endoscopy, and a gastric emptying scan. After I told him about my pain, I told him that on Monday after school, I had about a 20 min episode were the pain came on soooo stong and I had nausea and was tossing a turning and couldnt do anything! I finally had some diarrhea and threw up and I was fine. I told him about that and he thinks its either my intestines spasming or my gallbladder. He is making me get an ultrasound on tues but my stomach hurts sooo bad and has been hurting constantly. If my tummy is not in pain, then it feels like I did a 100 crunches. Everytime I eat something like some what fatty, I have diarrhea. Sometimes the pain goes under my right side under my rib cage and sometimes into my back. Does this sound like gallbladder or intestinal spasms? It hurts so bad I want it to go away now!

My 5 year old son is a non verbal autistic and he's had 3 sets of ear tubes. His last set was two years ago when his dr. put in "t"tubes. The type of tubes that don't come out on their own. Even with those types of tubes, he still get ear infectons a lot. The dr. who did the surgery moved so we had to find another ENT. About 2 weeks ago, we took him to his regular dr. and both ears were infected. We had a follow up with the ent and she said he ears looked ok, but he had a lot of build up and crust around the tube. She told us that they usually would put peroxide in the ears to clean off the tubes, but there's no way he's going to let you do that. We were using floxin ear drops. Not even a week later, he wakes up screaming bloody murder at night and we took him in and they said his left ear looked a little red and prescribed omnicef. He's been on the meds for 3 days and he wakes up at least 3 times per night just screaming. He's fine during the day.

My father in law has a tumour,i think it's on the tube leading from the liver,if they tried to remove it there's a 50% chance he wouldn't survive the op. The docs given him 12 months. I have read liver cancer is the most fatal, with least chance of survival. If anyone has been through this, please can you give me some advice with what to expect. My husband is still hopeful, but i want to be well informed of the outcome so i can help, thanks.
