When a patient came to me with this complaint I would put an anesthetic drop in the eye, followed by a drop of fluroscein dye. Then I would put on my magnifier (loupe), darken the room and shine ultraviolet light in the eye. Sometimes I would find a very tiny speck imbedded in the cornea, set aglow by the light's effect on the dye. I would make one or two attempts to remove it, usually successful. If not, the patient went to an ophthalmologist.
If that part of the exam were normal, I would brighten the room, and evert the eyelid to expose the tarsal plate on the inner surface of the upper lid. Sometimes there would be a tiny speck imbedded in the plate. It was usually simple to remove.
This is something you cannot do yourself. See your doc or get a referral to an ophthalmologist.

This might sound weird to you but I've had to do this in the past. Hold your eye open and fun it under the faucet. It's uncomfortable but it works. If it doesn't work maybe you should see an eye doctor so they can check it out.

Try flushing your eye with cool water. Whatever is in there should come out.
