i got my bellybutton pierced almost 2 months ago, and everything was fine and i've been cleaning it twice a day like i was told to. but after i cleaned it today i noticed something different.... there's a red bump under the bar, it looks like either a blister or a bugbite. it only hurts when i move certain ways, but other than that it's just an ugly thing. i want to keep it in for my boyfriend to see when he comes back home from bootcamp (i got it a few daysafter he left) but obviously i'm gonna have to take it out if something's wrong with it.... is there? :(

This is one for Panda I'm sure, as you've answered a similar question before that I've read. An asker posted a question up here before about cancer patients being "opened up" and was wondering if the air going in would cause the cancer to spread. You had said that it doesn't always happen like that, depending on the type of tumor.
You've answered some of my cancer questions before concerning my mother in law and I'd like to know (if you know) a little more. She is now in stage 1vb, cervical cancer that has spread to the legs, spine, and medulla (and possibly more). It's not my place to ask the doctor and only know what she says. A couple weeks ago (she's been lying down for 2 months almost) they inserted a tube to drain fluid from her lungs. If someone like her has very aggressive cancer, could this possibly be a danger, since she was opened up? I really wasn't sure - I had someone close to me pass away from this very same thing last year, and it spread when they opened him. Thanks.

For years now, Ive had acne that wont go away. Ive tried everything on the market. Now, my doctor is suggesting that I go on a drug called Accutane, which is, apparently, a very hardcore way of dealing with acne. Apparently, it might cure my acne forever. But there are some pretty serious things to consider like potential birth defects, liver damage, eye and lips bieng very dry....And, according to one site, the results might only be temporary, even though I will be taking it for five months. Have you taken Accutane? What are some of the side effects you experienced? What are some of the pros/cons? Would you reccomend it?

I'm 15, and I went to one 45 minute really loud concert. My ears have been ringing for almost 3 weeks. It only bothers me when there's no other noises, so it's not that bad...I'm just worried that it'll get worse. Is there a chance it still might fade away? Or does it just get worse with time?

I think I've been exhibiting some of symptoms of diabetes (examples: extreme thirst, frequent urination, headaches, etc.) and when I mentioned it to a friend (who is obv. not a doctor) she didn't seem to think I had diabetes. She has a friend who does and he exhibits the classic symptoms everyone thinks of associated with diabetes: typically a "drunk", woozy and lethargic feeling when the blood sugar is low. Now, I do NOT have symptoms like THAT, however after doing research there are those that I do have -- actually what seems like quite a large majority.

Are there any doctors out there who might be able to answer my question? I hate going to the doctor's with a list of symptoms, ready to produce my own diagnosis.

And I am not a hypocondriac. My mother, who hated going to the doctors, died of a sudden stroke while she had no known health problems. I think she may have been diabetic because a stroke is a complication, and she also had glaucoma and possibly high bloodpressure.

My 3 year old never had a mosquito bite until about 2 months ago, when she got one on her upper arm. I didn't think much of it and when she woke up the next morning it was the size of a quarter. I thought it was pretty big, but by the time I picked her up from daycare, it was about the size of a golf ball and really hot to the touch. I took her to the dr, who put her on antibiotics. Well she came home from daycare yesterday with many mosquito bites (after using repellent with deet 2x within the afternoon)and they are all swelling up again. Do you think she is allergic? Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions. They aren't swollen as bad as last time, but I am hoping I can figure something out before they get that bad.

Don't you think it strange that the private company, Meriel, at the centre of the outbrake was, prior to the outbrake, messing about with a virus that has not been seen for over 40 years in the UK. At the same time, prior to the outbrake, they were into production of the vaccine of this particular virus.

A statement from the company, after the event, said that they were simply topping up production of various vaccines, just in case (yer right). Even ones that had not seen the light of day for over 40 years?

How did they know that (a) the virus would escape and that the government would order 300,000 vaccines???

A nice little earner, particularly if you control both the virus and the vaccine.

I was on Keppra for a few months last year to stop the movements {hemiballismus}. I was told to stop the med when my main neurologist felt the problem was fixed. The movement started up again and I went back on Keppra. I am now free of the movement problem. One Dr. I saw thought I was only stressed and needed counseling and that the med was working only because I wanted it to. I was given Depakote first and it did nothing for me. Is there such a thing as the Dr. said? I am fine at home with a loving husband of almost 40 years and loving children and grandchildren, a wonderful church family, friends, etc. Yet she thinks I am a basketcase.

I had to take a test that had me doing two things. 1st was stepping up and down on a box for 3 minutes at a normal pace. And the other was lifting a 50lb box up on shelves and taking it off.
My resting heartrate was 105, and when i was doing the stepping test i think it went up to 135. Is this normal??
