I was told as a kid that any sunscreen with an SPF above 30 causes skin cancer. Is this true? Is it good for you to use SPF 45 or 50 sunblock?

Ok, here goes. We've all heard about the "classic" symptoms of genital herpes. The painful blisters and nasty sores. We get the nightmare scenario in high school health class.

However, I've been researching genital herpes online. I've read that "many" people with herpes have no symptoms. I've read that "most" people with herpes never have symptoms. And, on those commercials for herpes meds, they say that 70% of people with herpes got it from their partner that never knew they had it.

Now, if so many people out there aren't having any symptoms, does that mean that only a small percentage of people infected with genital herpes have symptoms? Does that mean that for most people infected, it's no big deal because they have no symptoms?

Please explain.

My drug of choice has been Avonex which is a Interferon, injected deep in the thigh muscle. The cost was $1,400 per month, so I stopped taking it, with no changes. I stopped taking this drug 22 months ago and have not noticed any change in my condition.

What drug are you taking and how much does it cost? Do you like it? What are the side affects?

We just got a pomeranian (about 2 weeks ago) and it turns out the family member who stays home all day and exposed to the dog the most is allergic. She has developed itching all over her body with watery eyes. We did have another dog that was similar in hair texture about 4 years ago. Is it actually possible to not be allergic and then suddenly be? We've checked her for fleas already.

Thanks

Ok so today I got a phone call from the nurse at the doctors office telling me that I failed my 3 hour test.. She said that 3 of the 4 came back elevated, and that the worse out of all was the one that was up to 244 "my sugar level" I did everything I was suppose to and still I failed. I am really nervous about the health of our baby now.. I have read and heard from many people that this pregnancy related complication can cause you to have an extremely large baby.. And that it can cause other health issue if it isnt well watched for the remainder of the pregnancy.. I have a home health nurse coming out to get me all set up with my equipment to start testing my self.. I have to test 4 times a day atleast, and watch what I eat.. Does anyone know what I can eat if anything. I was to no high carbs and no sugar, but what else do I need to watch out for? Please anyone that has had this tell me what you did.. I want to get a start on things now before the nurse shows up...

I've had persistent acne for 4 years now, since 11. I'm 15 and thinking of asking my doctor to prescribe me Accutane. Minocycline4 and Proactiv was waste of money.

I have had this lump for about 4 months now, it is on the left side of my back, between my lower rib and closer to my front side rather than the spine. No pain, is hard and fixed, went to my dr yesterday who said it is not a lipoma and is deeply embedded. Going to see a surgeon on the 21st of this month....what could be the cause??? My dr really could not tell me much of anything. Scared it is cancerous but cannot find on search engines for a mass like this. Anyone with medical knowledge or personal experience with something like this would be most appreciated.

My bf is 14 and diabetic, he's been diagnosed since may this year. i wasn't with him until begging of July, so I don't know how he controlled it then, but recently he's had blood sugars from one extreme to the other, today it was 2.5!!! and it should be about 10, last week he had a level of 17 and then 21. is there something he's not doing right, not having the right amount of insulin or anything else, because if he keeps going like this he's going to put himself in hospital!

when people say your left arm, shoulder, neck and face goes numb when u get a heart attack..

what do people specifically mean by it? the word 'numb' that is?

which of these below sounds more like a heart attack?

1) there is no feeling in the places, like u cant feel things with that specific arm or move it etc (sorta like a turned off arm).
if someone pinched u wouldnt feel it.

2) it is tingly mild feeling inside and a kind of weakness? pins n needles.. and jaw is hard to move, tooth pain?

3) or is it pain that you feel in all these areas that occurs all at once and shoots up and down that area?

depressing subject i know but just wondering.
