My bf is 14 and diabetic, he's been diagnosed since may this year. i wasn't with him until begging of July, so I don't know how he controlled it then, but recently he's had blood sugars from one extreme to the other, today it was 2.5!!! and it should be about 10, last week he had a level of 17 and then 21. is there something he's not doing right, not having the right amount of insulin or anything else, because if he keeps going like this he's going to put himself in hospital!

he needs to make sure he eats correctly and take his medicine on time. i found out the key to control was checking my blood sugar levels as often as i could. also exercise and diet has a lot to do with it. protein will help balance out his levels. i know it is hard i was a type 1 diabetic also but the longer he has it he will learn how to deal with it better. good luck to him and tell him it will get easier as time goes by.

HI. Since he is suffering from diabetes, medications must be taken regularly and at the right time. Ensure that he takes the food after the insulin. If not, he may turn hypoglycemic( decreased blood sugar level). Exercise helps to control diabetes, by increasing the metabolic rate. If needed, control the diet. This can be done by reducing the sugar. For example,if he had been taking 100gm everyday, reduce slowly and gradually. ALL THE BEST

Sounds like he's cheating on his diet or not eating /taking his medicines at the right intervals. Normal Blood sugar levels should be 4.2 - 6.5

I wouldn't worry too much as diabetes is very difficult to understand and control in the beginning especially when ur a teen and hormones are flying everywhere.
