No, there still isn't a cure. There are, however, many more drugs available now that can extend life expectancy and improve health

No.
There Is No Cure For Hiv Or Aids, But With The Technology and Medicines that we have this day and age, There are drugs that help you maintain a healthy and prolonged life, it is said that the average person can go 10 years or more with out the hiv virus turning into aids. and to be diagnosed with aids your T-Cell or (White Blood Cell) count must drop to 200 or less, which confirms that you have an "Opportunistic Disease".
So whoever you are referring to, if anyone, can still live a good life, its all in how you take care of yourself, how your body responds to the medications, and by upkeeping your medication and treatments.

Unfortunately, there is no "Cure" for HIV or Aids. There are only combinations of drugs that keep healthy cells reasonably healthy and reproducing. My sister is a leading HIV "cure seeking" research scientist and we discuss Cure issues every day. Pfizer Corp just got fast track approval from the FDA for an oral drug to prevent (internal?) spread (Saw on News 08-06-07: Pfizer’s SelzentryTM (Maraviroc) Tablets, Novel Treatment for HIV, Approved by FDA. See Link: www.pfizer.com/news/pfizer_press_releases.jsp?rssUrl=http://mediaroom.pfizer.com/portal/site/pfizer/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&ndmConfigId=1006533&newsId=20070806005899&newsLang=en.
Currently, leading technology is focused on preventing this insidious virus from replicating once it enters a host (theory: no replication - no cannibalizing healthy cells - no internal spread). These drugs are making their way into the pipeline.
It all can't come fast enough. Believe me the researchers are putting in (and have been for many years) round the clock efforts to find "a", let alone "the" "Cure". God speed!

no, there is no cure. however, the treatments they have today can really help keep HIV from turning into AIDS for many years. there are plenty of people leading a full life for a long time before they ever become sympotmatic of AIDS.

By "cure" you mean to rid a body of HIV and keep the person living - the answer is "no" there is nothing that will work for everybody, BUT there are the occasional stories of someone who was miraculously cured.
However, if you dont mind if the patient dies, then the answer is "yes" - be thankful we live in times and have laws in place that dont allow genocidal treatments to be administered.

Not yet. There are a few treatments such as Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) but no cure yet. There are several vaccines in development at the moment. Fourteen of which are in phase I trials and four of which are in phase I/II testing and a single vaccine in phase III.

No, but with the medications they have now, the life expectancy is about 25 years from diagnosis, so who knows what might happen in the next 25 years!
