I'm fascinated with the effect that sounds of vaious types can have on one's mind. I would like to learn about any scientific studies that shed light on this. Examples: the calming effects of a cat's purr, tthe focusing effect of a bell or Tibetan bowl, chanting "OM", trance music, etc., etc. Can you recommend any books, papers, web sites, etc.?

- I just returned home from a year in China, and i've been pretty anxious because I don't have a job set up, and I'm not sure where i'll live. I'm staying with my parents, and can do so for as long as I want. Also there really isn't any hurry to get a job because I saved money before I came home. I went to the doctor about my restlessness and he prescribed me valium. I've heard that it's highly addictive and i'm a little worried. Also, I'm not sure how it will make me feel...

I've got Blue Cross coverage, and I can't tell from their directory of doctors who would be more likely to have an alternative medicine leaning (in other words, if there's a problem, the first answer isn't just a pharmeseutical one, but might involve nutrition/natural remedies.)

Any thoughts of how to find a doctor like this? Thanks!

i am 59 and get night sweats every night disrupting my sleep the doctor won't give me HRT what can i take to get a good nights sleep this has been going on for 12 months. I alredy take Red Clover and Menopace. Is there anything else which is better. Thanks.
