paprika, who knew?......read this..(Actually I read about this in Dr Andrew Weil's books once)
Hot peppers have come to command the world's spice trade but a genetic recessive non-pungent form has become an important "green" vegetable crop on a global scale especially in temperate regions. The genus Capsicum is a member of the Solanaceae, a large tropical family. Science ascribes some 31 species to this genus but this is only an estimate with anticipated new species yet to be discovered and named as exploration of the tropical regions of the Americas continually expands.
Many & varied uses for this genus have been found not only in cuisines but in medicine as well. A Hungarian scientist actually won a Nobel Prize for research on vitamin content of paprika. Pound-for-pound, it has a higher content of Vitamin-C than citrus fruit. From a health standpoint it is a healthy addition to foods as well as a tasty addition.
Paprika has been vastly under-rated by most Americans. It is kept on hand primarily to use as a sprinkled garnish of color on deviled eggs. European cooks use the vibrance of this spice since almost 500+ years ago, and it is finally gaining respect in the United States. Paprika in large amounts lends not only color, but fabulous flavor to many different foods including meats, vegetables, and sauces. In the Americas, especially the area of the southwestern U.S., Chili powder usually in one more degrees of "hot" are used in cooking. In recent years it is becoming widespread all over the US & now into Canada. It is a primary in chili as well as in many other dishes of American cuisine.
I will have to see if his new book is out...Eight Weeks to Optimum Health, Revised Edition

There really is no 'best' health food. Each one is specific to a certain area and all one can say is that a balanced and wholesome diet, preferably one consisting of organically grown plants and animals and which comes from as near to you as possible, is the best 'health food'.
Garlic and honey are both very good antibiotics and also contain things which enhance the immune system. Garlic is a good thing to have in at least one meal a day and it is preferable to sweeten things with honey rather than refined sugar.
The argument for organically grown foods is that they are grown without pesticides which may (or may not) be contained in the product.
The argument for choosing products which come from as close to you as possible is mostly economic but, in the case of fresh produce, means that it is
(a) likely (but not inevitably) fresher than something which has been trucked or flown for hundreds or thousands of miles
and (b) we still live to a certain extent in communities which have a resistance to local diseases. It is much less true now than it was a century ago, of course, but I think it still has relevance.
So the answer to your question is really - be holistic about what you eat.

A good healthy diet with meat and all types of vegetables give all the foods a normal person needs. Garlic is supposed to reduce cholesterol, but there are less painful ways. Honey tastes good, and what it contains depends on what the bees have available.

Start the day with a little ginger and honey combination with a few drops of lime juice: during the day include garlic and dates in small quantities in your food. Have sprouted beans (or a variety of gram) for protein. Some seasonal fruits and nuts in winter weather, some time later in the day. Black pepper for checking cholosterol. Soups for energy and maintaining weight.

I know when I am sick, I take Licorise root to help clear up my lungs, and Slippery Elm for my throat, make them into a tea and add honey that hasn't been processed.

Apple cider vinegar is also supposed to be good for medicinal, as well as, other purposes. My mother has the Vinegar Book and she swears by it.
